We are stupidly excited to confirm that Evan Dando will be playing Bedford Esquires on Tuesday 5th July.
The lead singer of the Lemonheads and surely one of the most accomplished songwriters of his generation, Dando’s career has been eclectic but never anything other than sublime. From the melodic punk rock of ‘Lick’ and the grunge of ‘Lovey’ to the country stylings of ‘Baby, I’m Bored’ and the commercial success of ‘Come On Feel The Lemonheads’, he is possibly best known for the genuine alternative classic that is ’It’s a Shame About Ray’ – unquestionably one of finest albums of the nineties.
Although Dando seemed to spend an unadvisable amount of that decade getting into mischief with A-list celebrities such as Oasis, Courtney Love and Kate Moss, his back catalogue of songs is almost unparalleled; ‘My Drug Buddy’, ‘Big Gay Heart’, ‘The Outdoor Type’, ‘Rudderless’, ‘Confetti’, ‘Stove’, ‘Into Your Arms’, ‘Hannah and Gabi’, ‘Hard Drive’ etc, etc, etc…
Having reformed the The Lemonheads (as the sole original member) in 2006, Evan Dando is still playing to huge audiences, whether it be headlining The Truck Festival in 2008 (where the band played ’It’s a Shame About Ray’ in its entirety) or topping the bill at the Camden Crawl just a few months ago. Therefore, we are extremely pleased that Evan has agreed to play a solo gig at Esquires as part of an short UK tour.
Tickets are £15 in advance, available from www.wegottickets.com or from Danny’s Bar.
