Four cities, four massive arena shows: the Australia Day long weekend was the scene of serious celebrating, following the first official headline tour from the world’s hottest DJ: 24-year-old Swedish superstar AVICII.
Setting a record for the largest attendances ever seen in Australia for a standalone DJ, Avicii thrilled fans with his huge stage production, a climatic pyrotechnics show, and massive hits like ‘Wake Me Up’, ‘Hey Brother’ and more. Over 9,000 punters caught the kick-off at Brisbane’s sold-out first show, another 50,000 in Sydney and Melbourne combined, and 10,000 more in Perth, fans nationwide left with smiles on their face and sore feet from plenty of dancing.
The ‘Wake Me Up’ star is so loved by Aussies he’s even landed his own radio show, with radio station Nova announcing he’s hosting a weekly one-hour show titled “Avicii Levels” on Saturday nights from 11pm.
Dance fans won’t have long to wait until they can do it all again at the biggest festival of the summer, Future Music Festival – starring the #1 talent in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, Hardwell, as well as the first Australian performance by legendary dance maverick ERIC PRYDZ, a set from Canada’s DEADMAU5, PHARRELL WILLIAMS, MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS, PHOENIX, KNIFE PARTY, RUDIMENTAL and so much more.
