Review: Above & Beyond (Group Therapy Tour) at The Shrine Auditorium LA

23 May 2012 - - - The DJ List

Above & Beyond was in Los Angeles for a 3 day tour known as Group Therapy at the Shrine Auditorium, May 19th. The gang has routinely made stops at Southern California since EDC 2010 because the region has shown such a huge love and demand for the three man crew. Rarely will you see all three of them together on stage, as one always stays back home to run the label and radio show. On this occasion Tony McGuinness and Jono Grant were here performing with ANDREW BAYER setting up for 2 hours.

Andrew Bayer just recently released an album under one of ABOVE & BEYOND's label, AnjunaDeep. But Andrew's set was anything but a typical set you would expect from someone hand picked to setup Above & Beyond. In the beginning of his set, he played the dark but famous track by DUBFIRE - Roadkill and towards the end, he played the famous and feel good music of ORBITAL - Halcyon On and On. Andrew set himself appart from a lot of the setup DJ's you would normally hear by being unique and mixing in new songs with some classic old school songs.

Above & Beyond came on at 11:30pm and the show was taken to another level. The stage setup at the Shrine was very impressive and you can tell a lot of thought and preparation was put into the stage production. Above & Beyond was blending in their signature melodic tune but at the same time, driving a harder beat than normal and the crowd was responding very well to it. They played their classic hits such as Home (Wippenberg remix), Love Is Not Enough, You Got To Go, and they closed with Good for Me. This was a very impressive show if you wanted to see Above & Beyond and see them play out all of their hits from when they first began to now. It seems like everytime after you see Above & Beyond perform you leave with a good feeling inside of you and on this night it was no different.
