TDJL: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
I'm MANUEL DE LA MARE, I'm Italian, I just came back home from a weekend in China and now while I'm trying to write to you while my cats are playing around me.
TDJL: What does your studio consist of? What hardware/software do you use most and why?
It is very simple, I use Logic 9 with some VST, I have some hardware synths like Korg M3, Korg M20, Minimoog, and my monitors are Dynaudio, Alesis and I often use headphones for listening to music (Sony and Pioneer)
TDJL: You were voted Remixer of the Year in 2011 by Beatport, can you take us into your thinking when you start off on a track your going to remix?
I take the main music elements from the original and I translate it in my own language.
TDJL: Whats are the last steps you take when you feel a song you've been working on is finished and ready for people to hear?
First I play it in the clubs, and after a road test, I just send it to the label I think it's good for.
TDJL: Can you tell us something about your project Forza with Alex Kenji and Luigi Rocca?
It's the name of our party, when we play back to back or build extra long sets bringing to the club our diverse sounds.
TDJL: It seems like you have a great relationship with Toolroom Records and Mark Knight, how did you guys first meet?
He got in contact with me with myspace (anyone still remember it?!?) and we met in Brazil a few years ago. We started our collaboration with some remixes for his label and then we did a track together and at the moment we are on a new original.
TDJL: What's the one thing you can't live without?
Good music and good food
TDJL: Any upcoming productions or release you can talk about?
I'm on a Toolroom Knight album that will be released in November.
TDJL: 808 or 909?
TDJL: You have a residency in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel. What's the craziest story you have from Vegas?
I'm in Vegas there every month and nothing really crazy has happened to me there, all events there are made with passion by a great staff, and professionals. It's almost the opposite of Ibiza where tons of teenagers go there trying to find some partime jobs for paying the vacation lol.
