#FestivalFriday Splash House Edition: Are YOU Ready?

29 May 2015 - - The DJ List

Can you believe that the June edition of Splash House is just a few short weeks away? No? Neither can I. Maybe it has been the recent influx of activities on my plate that has kept me from reaching full excitement potential for my impending return to that man-made oasis in Palm Springs. How do you prepare yourself for a return to musical paradise? How do you prepare for your first trip? Allow me to help you out a bit.

First things first

Purchase a ticket if you haven’t done so already . Tickets and travel packages are still available, all of the information you need to know for purchasing may be found HERE.

Pimp out your surroundings (and yourself!)

Floaties, floaties, floaties. I highly suggest bringing a floatie or two to add to the pool, if only to keep yourself afloat. If you’ve managed to book a room that is part of the festival – bring decorations for your balcony. The Saguaro has several rooms that face the balcony, allowing for attendees to show off their finest festival style. A word from the wise to all females in attendance: I KNOW many of us like to wear wedges to pool parties (why is this a thing?) but I strongly suggest foregoing that trend at Splash House as almost every surface you walk on during your time at Splash House will be soaking wet. Water + Wedges + Dancing = a potentially dangerous situation.

Familiarize yourself with June’s spectacular lineup!

Last year, before I dipped my toe into the very many new experimental sub-genres of house music that seemingly popped up overnight, I was relatively clueless as to who most of the artists on the lineup were. The best thing I did for myself was create a playlist featuring songs from each artist – not only did I open up my eyes to completely new (and awesome!) sounds, I walked away with another sweet playlist to add to my growing collection. Lucky for you, this year I have done the work for you – feast your ears on the playlist at the end of this article to prepare yourself!

Speaking of the June lineup …

Without further ado: BAKERMAT, CASHMERE CAT, THOMAS JACK, RAC, AMTRAC, ANNA LUNOE, AOBEATS, CHEROKEE, CHRISTIAN MARTIN, DR. FRESCH, DROOG, DU TONC, FIGGY, GIGAMESH, GINA TURNER, HIPPIE SABOTAGE, HUNT FOR THE BREEZE, JUSTIN JAY, LAUREN LANE, LE YOUTH, LUCA LUSH, MANILA KILLA, MY NU LENG, PAT LOK, POMO, ROBOKID, SAINT WKND, SHIFT K3Y, SNBRN, TACHES, TEEMID, VANILLA ACE, VICEROY, VINDATA, WAVE RACER, WAX MOTIF, WORTHY, YUNG WALL STREET, and ZIMMER.

Select a few key artists to see, and enjoy the adventure

With three different venues hosting Splash House, Saguaro Hotel, Hilton Hotel and Hacienda Cantina and Beach Club, it will be hard to catch every set at each stage and still enjoy your time splashing around simultaneously. Last year, I focused my energy on who I wanted to see the most (FLUME and TRIPPY TURTLE) and let the rest of the festival work its magic. The end result of my free-spirited weekend was a collection of surprising sets, most of which I would have missed had I spent more time worrying about who was playing and when.

Keep in mind …

Splash House will be held again in August! If you miss out on June, get yourself ready for the August installment, to be held August 8th & 9th later this summer.

STAY TUNED

As we draw nearer to Splash House, keep your eyes peeled for updates posted on the DJ List socials, and for our personal recommendations of artists not to miss while you’re out in the desert!
