In the aftermath of his successful new single "Wildlands," we decided to catch up with Italian producer ELYAZ. He breaks musical boundaries with his varied sound, and this latest single offers something melodic and progressive. Check out what he had to say to us below...
Good to have you! Please tell us a little about yourself… who are
you and where are you currently based?
It’s a pleasure! I’m a DJ/producer, musician and singer! I’m based in
Italy, and I got into producing and creating my own music about 6/7 years
ago. I have been building, step by step, my own way of work for projects I create!
How long have you been making music? What made you first
want to get into it as a career?
I’ve been playing guitar since I was a kid, later playing piano and
singing. I started producing my own music when I was about 18, which
opened up a whole new world to me. Composing, producing and
making music makes me feel really good, and this is everything for
me. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do.
Do your surroundings inspire your music? How would you sum
up the signature ELYAZ sound?>/strong>
When I’m in the studio I always isolate myself from all the influences
we can hear everywhere, doing simply what I like to play, hear and
then produce, and trying to create my own sound every time. We live in a world in which we are constantly conditioned by other music - you have to find the right balance between what you hear and who you are.
Are you pleased with how “Wildlands” turned out?
I’m very satisfied with the results for "Wildlands." Watching the
video you’re really able to see the story and the concept. I've been getting so much positive feedback and reactions, which makes me really happy and motivates me to carry on making the music I love to make.
What do you most enjoy about making a new tune?
I love the endless possibilities that a new track provides - exploring every sound, doing the composition, all the arrangement and giving character to every detail with sound design - then finally seeing the project come to life.
Where do you see your sound progressing over the coming
The only thing I know in regards to the future, is that I'll always follow what I feel and see where that takes me.
If you could work with any artist (alive or dead) on a track, who
would you choose and why?
Avicii, Garrix, Van Buuren… I’ve always liked their production style!
What can we expect from you next? What are your dreams for
the future as an artist?
More new music and projects on the way! For the future I simply hope to be able to carry on doing what I love; which is making music.
