ECHOES OF DAYTON

ECHOES OF … For 3 years now, the french funk band “ECHOES OF” has been leading a very successful and phenomenal monthly residency called “Funk & The City”, in the most famous jazz club in Paris, the NEW MORNING (where the best international jazz, funk, soul artists have performed).

The young cats of ECHOES OF are paying tribute to the american cities of funk (songs between 1975 and 1985) in a very unique, original and ambitious way, covering and reviving songs not often performed live. So far exist ECHOES OF DETROIT (One Way, Bohannon, Carl Carlton), MINNEAPOLIS (Prince, The Time, André Cymone) DAYTON (Aurra, Sun, Lakeside), WASHINGTON (Trouble Funk, Soul Searchers, Chuck Brown), MIAMI (Uncle Louie, Gwen McCrae, T-Connection), PHILADELPHIA (Instant Funk, Breakwater, Bunny Sigler), SAN FRANCISCO (Con Funk Shun, Maze, Larry Graham), CHICAGO (Chaka Khan, Earth Wind and Fire, Omni)

The 6 (extendable to 12) pieces band always keep the same backing nucleus of musicians, inviting several and various singers who become ambassadors of the city they are assigned to. More cities to come such as Memphis, New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles and also non american cities such as London, Tokyo, Rio, … !

If you’ve seen ECHOES OF … Live at The SLST before, then you know that this band truly mean business and won’t stop til you get enough, so marker pen this date in the diary and get ready for a mind melding 90 minute Live set where ECHOES OF DAYTON gonna blow the roof off the sucka.

Then on LEVEL 2 – Let the funk hit the fan and dance hit the floor, as The Mighty SNOWBOY & very special guest + crate digger extraordinaire FRANK RAINES (Funk Night Records, Detroit) unleash pure Soul and Funk Beasts on 45 direct to the whole ah you soul. Dropping it like it’s too damn hot. ALL NIGHT LONG! May the funk be with you!

LEVEL 2/ROOM2 – The French Connection continues, as Funk, Soul and DIsco Re-Edits, Remix Artists and DJs YOUNG PULSE + ATN (MOCHI MEN) bring the sounds of their highly successful souled up Parisienne night “FUNK & THE CITY" to the SLST, drop the hammer and Invite you to Dance Harder y’all. This duo are truly hot folks and ready to seriously bring the party. So (and as we like to say) Prepare Yourselves!

LEVEL 3 – Time to enter The REACH UP DISCO WONDERLAND. Legendary DJ ANDY SMITH + NICK HALKES, CRISSY KYBOSH, ANDY BAILEY dropping 80’s boogie, soul, funk, disco and proto house, evoking the spirit and dipping into the soundtrack of legendary NYC clubs such as ’Paradise Garage’ & ’Studio 54’. A night highlighting the sounds that emerged as the 70’s, turned into the 80’s and the DNA of club music as we know it today was being written. Warning – Cramp from excessive raising of hands likely, Dancing mandatory!!
