After a hugely successful showcase back in March of last year we welcome back one of Berlin’s best known clubs who will be bringing their very own showcase to Brighton by featuring a selection of their top residents. Wowzers!

The club Ritter Butzke

Ritter Butzke is located on the ground floor of a former factory in Kreuzberg. It began as an illegal club in 2007, but went official two years later. The venue has three main dance floors, plus an outdoor courtyard that’s open in the summer. The DJs and the crowd are most often Berliners. This dimly-lit huge club is always bursting at the seams and is hidden away in a large complex of buildings on Moritzplatz. It has certainly achieved legendary fame in the city and worldwide.

Solvane’s activities are moved by passion. Keeping his style versatile and emotional, allows him to play the big stages around the globe; from Burning Man Festival to Fusion, from European capitals like London, Paris and Istanbul to Australia, Asia and the USA. Solvane has been on stage since his teen years and discovered his enthusiasm for electronic music in his early twenties. The different musical influences throughout his life inspired him to constantly experiment and evolve the style of his music.

The connection to his chosen home Berlin is alive and kicking: He not only plays regularly at his Ritter Butzke residence but also has been creating tracks that have been supported by top-league acts like Claptone, Kollektiv Turmstraße and Acid Pauli for more than 10 years and counting. In 2016 Solvane reached the Top 20 Electronica Charts on Beatport for the first time, and came to stay: his tracks have been consistently honoured with top rankings. After several Singles and EPs on labels like „Light My Fire“ and „Ritter Butzke Studio“ he moved on to Oliver Koletzki’s label „Stil vor Talent“ where he is still signed to today.

Globally Solvane has certainly clocked up the miles with club gigs from Circus Tokyo to Elrow/Space Ibiza, from Florentines Garden Los Angeles to Glow Bangkok. Not only that, he has played at festivals such as Burning Man USA to Fusion Festival, Distortion Copenhagen to The Gathering in New York.

Solvane also hosts his own radio show on Berlin based station Radio Fritz and has interviewed big-hitters such as Oliver Koletzki, Andhim, Bebetta, Wankelmut and many more.

HRRSN AKA Ulrich Harrison, is an artist that has released on mega labels Stil vor Talent and Noir and is a soul-inspired artist with vibrant and refreshing LIVE-sets.

Until recently he could have still been considered an insider. But since HRRSN has supported Fritz Kalkbrenner on his Grand Departé Tour as well as releasing on Terminal M, Monika Kruse’s label, which hit no.3 in the overall Beatport Charts, HRRSN has certainly been making huge waves.

Slick, grooving and intelligent sounds will be expected that we can’t wait to hear on the cobbles.

Matthias Schuell
Ritter Butzke Studio, Einmusika Recordings, Dantze

After a solid education in multiple classical instruments and drums Matthias Schuell took an unlikely choice to enter the electronic scene as a producer, DJ and live act. Quickly after the breakup of his international successful project “BAAL” in January 2019 he concentrated on his growing solo career. Always keeping an energetic vibe in his productions he tries out different tempos and styles and creates music with a broad portfolio of sounds and instruments.

In his powerful live sets he uses his talent to support his music with live drums and piano elements. His first EP „Scarabaeus“ in June 2018 on Niconé’s imprint Dantze was played by Joris Voorn, Animal Picnic, Moonwalk and many more and quickly took the pole position to become the number one song of the Dantze label on Beatport. His EP „Hoodoo“ on Einmusika in May 2019 charted in the Beatport Top 10 Releases in the genres „Techno“ and „Melodic House & Techno“ for several weeks. Since 2018 he holds a residency and works as the label manager at the Ritter Butzke Club Berlin.

Monica Music
Berlin – Brighton, Codesouth.FM

Two strangers enter a toilet at a Pan Pot gig, they emerge as friends, and two years later are ready to start showing the city of Brighton and the rest of the world their unique style of dance floor groovers.

Luke and Owen, aka Monica, have been members of the dance floor generation since their late teens. With a musical choice that is sometimes considered to sit just outside what the majority of people in Brighton play, and a love for the Berlin sound, it wasn’t long before they were offered their first taste of limelight, when the head honcho of Nightshift Records, Sami Kubu, offered them a slot on her bi-monthly podcast. Since then Monica host their own weekly radio show on Codesouth.FM every Monday 8-10pm and have made appearances all over Brighton as well as London. Not only that the duo are now firm Berlin-Brighton residents and crowd favourites.

Listen back to their Berlin Mixtapes Guest mix for us too.

Listen to it here:

Is this night for you?
Of course it is, have you seen the line-up??? Come if you like House, Deep House, Tech House, Funk, Funky House & Techno. Come if you like stickers, glitter, confetti, laughing lots, speaking in a German accent, lasers, The Hoff, Jägermeister, saying ‘Ja’ a lot, dancing, musical journeys, inflatable animals, high fünfing a lot!

If you like these artists then this night is for you! Kellerkind, Solomun, David August, Steve Bug, Tube & Berger, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Tensnake, Tiefschwarz, Sidney Charles, Monika Kruse, Einmusik, Stephan Bodzin, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sven Väth, Purple Disco Machine, Superlover, Soul Button, Super Flu, Mat.Joe etc. etc etc :D

Why does Berlin now charge entry?

We want to bring you some of the biggest and best artists out of Germany and continue to share with you ground breaking underground music. To do that we need to finance the night and we can no longer fund it for free especially if we’re bringing over artists from Berlin. We are still the cheapest club night in Brighton and we aim to keep to that and make underground music accessible to all.
