Yamen & EDA were both born and raised in the depths of Southern France. They have been friends since they wore short trousers, startEd Solo careers in 2007 but really started making waves when they hooked up in 2011. Since then, they have released on esteemed labels like Safari Numérique and One Records.
Their sound is a fresh fusion of house and tech with subtle Detroit influences and implicit nods to ‘90s French filter house. There’s a louche, groovey hip hop tone to much of their beatwork, too, and jazzy flourishes often light up this pair’s tracks. “We always try to combine sophisticated, hypnotic grooves and rhythms with a touch of sensuality,” say the pair, who admit their only missions is to spread their vision of underground house around the world.
To date they have already played plenty of memorable gigs at influential clubs around Europe like Fuse in Brussels, Watergate in Berlin, Rainbow in Birmingham, The Garage in Leeds and Social Club in Paris, amongst others. Soon to release a new EP on One records, this pair has also launched their own new imprint Rawmance LTD with their partner in crime Loquace (LYE). It’s the natural next step in this pair’s musical evolution, and promises yet more great things to come.
