XS.iF (this modest artist) was born in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester in the late 70’s. He was brought up on releases ranging from artists such as the Everly Brothers, to The Commodores to Bob Marley. This diversity ensured his fascination in different musical genres continued. As an artist XS.iF concentrates on making hip hop music and so created his slogan ‘The Hip Hop Disciple’.
When it came to DJing, he began in the City of Nottingham with an uncompromising style on the decks towards hip hop (the genre he could relate to most back then), and through this and sheer hardwork on the local scene he gradually earned the respect of the musical community and his DJ career just grew from strength to strength at an alarming rate..
He starting DJing after his studies at the Nottingham Trent University, on the Nottingham Trent University Radio Station 107.6 Fly FM, as well as the Universityâs Fresher’s Fayre, and virtually every bar and club in the City of Nottingham. XS.iF sees most of his gigs has a highlight in the sense that he is always willing to learn and educate his audience. One of his achievements has a DJ was becoming one of the University of Nottingham’s Official Student DJ’s for over 2 years, which subsequently led to him DJing at the University’s club nights such as Stretch at The Bomb and Detour at Stealth. He as also had gigs at Nottingham’s legendary venue – Rock City, and has DJ’ed at the University of Nottingham’s Graduation Ball at the Nottingham Ice Arena.
XS.iF has also promoted and DJ’ed at numerous events across the country such as at the Chester College of Law’s Fashion Show, Life College in Manchester, Devonshire in Cambridge with the Dirty Stopouts of Rawganic to name a few.
In Nottingham, XS.iF has been a resident DJ at one of the UK’s best established up and coming Drum & Bass and Hip Hop club nights – Repercussion, since it started over 3 years ago, as well as being a resident DJ for some of the well known local club nights such as LeftLion Presents…, Prescription and Cult. He has also appeared a few times as a guest DJ at the nationally renowned Drum & Bass event – Detonate.
Even though he started out DJing predominantly hip hop (of all styles), his appreciation for different genres of music have seen him broaden his horizons and he can now be seen spinning the best of Soul, Funk & Disco, as well as World Music.
He continues to DJ, promote events and is currently working on the release of his debut album.
His DJing skills have taken him as far a field as to the Far East. He has DJ’ed at Frangipani in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Discovery in Kuching (Borneo), D’Junction in Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Sanook in Bangkok (Thailand) and Stella in Toyko (Japan).
