“Music expresses those things, which cannot be told but whereat it is impossible to remain silent about.” [Victor Hugo]

This musical parlance abducted Florian in the most different ways: let him discover house music, rock with tribal, chill by ambient and downbeats. It showed him how to experiment with techno and delighted him with break beats every time in a new way.

Today, XFLO:W’s style, described from a photographer’s point of view, is a wide angle soundscape, a fusion of old and new, a variation rich vivid choice of surgically precise beats, elegantly impressive vocals and carrying harmonies, combined with shivering industrial sound, squelching tribal grooves, underlined by funky house music rhythms, rocking break beats and wild African percussions.

His DJ sets are a blaze of a emotional and eclectic grooves, comparable with a supersonic flight through a cloud hole and lightning shuffled thunderstorm, into the sunset, a furnace of music and XFLO:W is the stoker. Spinning the wheels of steel: Florian’s kind of musical interaction, without static structures, for pleasure and fun in music.

The focus of his activities applies to his home, Berlin and its neighborhood. Here he is setting new impulses and innovations, whether as XFLO:W or in past days under the guise of flogressive. The ways to express himself are various, from regular club DJ sets (Sternradio, polar, MS Edelweiss, Icon, …) over to radio (former Kiss 99 FM Berlin, 5FM Cape Town & Radio FM Slovakia) and club/party journalism (freelance for e.g. On this way he teamed up and accompanied legends like Nick Warren (UK, Way Out West), Deep Dish (US, Yoshitoshi), Parks & Wilson + Andy Moor (UK, Tilt), Jondi & Spesh (US, Looq & Spundae), Marcos Lopez (DE, Marmion), Andry Nalin (DE, Nalin & Kane), Gerret Frerichs (DE, Humate), James Holden (UK, Border Community), Lee Softley (UK, Blue Amazon) and Lisa Loud (UK, MTV).

Beside those activities, Florian always had a chance to experience the global aspect of music. Thereby he can look back on musical landmarks such as South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Caribbean or USA. Locations and people in Cape Town, Jo’burg, Buenos Aires, Recife or for example Phillipsburg experienced the meaning of having a party with the sound of XFLO:W. Of course good old Europe let appear exciting moments in his life as well. Doesn’t matter if it has been Copenhagen, Budapest or the heat of Moscow.

Together, with his DJ partner Peer Benary and by their deep progressive electro style, he turns back- to be forward and reverse. Both DJ’s radio on the same frequency but are entirely different. As one they pull out all the stops to take the party people with them on a ride through progressive deep tribal tech funk to bring them that kicking feeling.
