Mike Thompson, aka Vykoda, is a working DJ based out of both San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. The passion he felt the first time he heard “Fat of the Land” by Prodigy back in 1997, made it clear electronic music would be one of his passions.
Vykoda (Vie-co-duh), was a name derived from an Alaskan king crab vessel named the “Viekoda Bay” that Mike worked on. The fierce waves, howling winds, and mysteries of the deep helped create the vision of his future electronic production.
For the past 8 years Vykoda has played hundreds of gigs up and down the Cali coast. From warehouse raves, to college parties with 600 bodies almost shaking the building down, and everything in-between, his beat juggling has rocked them all.
With his early roots in the electronic scene, Vykoda grew up listening to American Hardcore Techno, Gabber, Trance and Happy Hardcore. His recent sets for rave scene contain Electro-House, Trap, Progressive House, Glitch-Hop and Dubstep. When playing clubs / parties he incorporates Hip-Hop, Top 40’s, Reggae, 80’s and Rock to his sets to keep the dance floor wild.
