ULTRAVIOLET BIO:

A$$ A$$ A$$ A$$

There are few DJs out of the Bay who command the respect and underground cred of UltraViolet. With a career spanning 15 years, UV aka Eva Lee holds an undeniable place as a don of San Francisco bass culture, and a master of urban beats.

Eva debuted behind the decks before she could legally vote. Long fascinated with hip hop and other street-born music, she landed a job at a well known San Francisco record store and was quickly captivated by the futuristic sounds of jungle/drum and bass. It wasn’t long before DJ UltraViolet had established herself within the fast-growing SF DnB scene, and was playing the largest raves in the Bay Area alongside the biggest names in the game…all just after graduating high school.

She’s accomplished a lot since those early days (or rather, nights). Eva’s forward-thinking selection and top-tier mixing skills have earned her a reputation as a true tastemaker, and an establishment in the SF bass scene. Never pre-planning sets, UltraViolet draws inspiration from each individual crowd to tailor unique bass-driven experiences which send dancefloors into a frenzy. UV and her crew Redline pioneered some of the first large-scale dubstep events in the Bay Area, hosting the global bass music scene’s biggest talents in clubs and dingy warehouses alike. She’s continued to headline shows in California and beyond, in addition to sharing the main stage with the likes of E-40, Los Rakas, Mary Anne Hobbs, Excision, Datsik, Dieselboy, Reid Speed, LTJ Bukem, Lazer Sword, KOAN Sound, Bassnectar, Ac Slater, 12th Planet, UZ and Eprom – to name only a select few.

2012 has been a big year for UltraViolet. In addition to heavy touring (including headlining gigs in Puerto Rico and SMOG in LA), UV and company have spearheaded the burgeoning trap and future bass scene in San Francisco, founding the monthly party Trap City with huge success. Having already hosted the likes of Trap-A-Holics, Heroes x Villains, and Trill Murray (not to mention a drool-worthy crew of residents), Trap City shows no sign of slowing down. With original productions and collabs making the rounds amongst the bass scene elite – UltraViolet stands poised to run the trap in 2013. Watch out…
