A Bay Area native, Edwin Garro was influenced early on by West Coast hip-hop culture. His early work led to worldwide success, helping transform the American bass music scene with the hit single “Enemy Infiltration” and drum & bass album “The Future is Listening.” Three decades later, he remains an innovator at the forefront of the trap music boom. Nick Weiller (Evol Intent, Bro Safari) reached out to Garro in 2009. Their partnership would help define the moombahton era of EDM music, propelled by the EP “Future Primitive” in 2011 and LP “Animal” in 2014. A remix EP for “Animal” featured remixes from artists like Brillz, Gents & Jawns, Party Favor, Far East Movement and Valentino Kahn. Garro has done remixes for Steve Aoki, Kill The Noise, Dieselboy, and others with Bro Safari. Some of his hit singles like “It’s A Trap,” meanwhile, remain trap culture anthems. Most recently, his official remix for Slander and Nghtmre was featured on Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint.
“There is no such thing as the evolution of music, it’s up to the innovation of the artist to develop the evolution of music.”
