In a small dorm room at Five Towns College in Long Island, 3 talented musicians joined forces to make waves in the electronic dance music realm. From this harmony, Trio was born. New York natives Nicholas Cooper, Anthony Meja, and Richard McGuire initially became friends in March of 2013 when the trio collaborated to create their first bootleg together of Laurent Wolf’s “No Stress.” From then on, it was fun, friendship, and passion for their art that sparked the match and laid the groundwork for Trio’s existence.
Although from different areas of New York, each Nicholas, Anthony, and Richard grew up with an affinity for music. Richard was a natural born singer, singing until his love for dance music prevailed when he began DJing at age 15. Both Nicholas and Anthony were introduced to the wonders of electronic music earlier on, learning the basics of DJing at age 12 and 13 respectively.
The central factor that binds these 3 guys together is their desire for a valuable and passionate connection with both the music and their fans. Rather than adhering to trends, Trio takes their time to produce quality tracks reflective of their eclectic tastes. Dabbling in multiple sounds, the group breaks the boundaries of genres to step out of the “EDM mold” and create more authentic music. Along with releasing remixes of well-known tracks, Trio has been working hard to perfect their debut album, which is set to release in 2015.
Trio’s connection with the dance music community is unparalleled; as fans themselves, they strive to exceed expectations behind the decks to create a truly special experience for each particular crowd. Combining their skill and dedication with their love for their fans is what creates their unique group identity. Nicholas, Anthony, and Richard are able to bring their individual, distinct styles and sounds together to establish a dynamic group that is already taking the dance scene by storm.
Separately, they are three talented musicians, yet together they are impassioned, magnetic, and dexterous artists. This is Trio.
