Biography

Tom Bailey discovered dance music in his early teens, getting a taste for house through various mainstream compilations and mix cds. Early influences included Radio 1s Pete Tong & Judge Jules. After Trance got it’s much heralded renaissance in 1999 Tom began to focus his energy on the pursuit of this new euphoric sound. Tom developed an interest in DJs such as Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren & Paul Van Dyk, the very same DJs that would inspire Tom to finally take the plunge and get into DJing himself buying his first decks and mixer in March 2004.Toms initial forays took in a more techno infused sound combining the productions of artists such as Randy Katana & Sander Van Doorn and labels like Reset & Intec. However after being captivated by DJs such as Markus Schulz & Jon OBir Toms focus shifted toward a new more progressive sound. Toms interest in this new sound led him to the discovery of artists such as Perry ONeil, Gabriel & Dresden & Andy Moor and coupled with the emergence of labels like Electronic Elements, Coldharbour & Baroque Tom began to find his niche. This new direction gave Tom a new drive and hunger for DJing giving him the impetus to share his music with the world. Tom began by uploading and hosting his own mixes through various websites and message boards. Initial feedback was good and Tom began to produce monthly mixes each one a new progression on the last helping the Wolverhampton based DJ to further develop and hone his skills. In early 2006 Tom uploaded his January Promo mix to various message boards to great acclaim. This set came to the attention of two people in particular that would aid Toms progress and drive him onwards towards success. The first person to contact Tom regarding the January Promo mix was none other than Galaxy Fms Paul Kershaw. Pauls weekly radio show Solid State regularly features some of the worlds top DJs and goes out via national FM radio in the UK and worldwide via the internet to an audience of millions. Paul had stumbled across Toms mix via one of the message boards and proceeded to ask Tom if it could be featured as the winning Rising Star mix for the month of January. As well as giving a short interview Tom had 30minutes of his mix aired on this huge medium. Following on from the success of the Solid State showcase Cliffy Burrows was the second to contact Tom regarding the mix and asked if Tom would share it for broadcast on web based radio station trancemixers.com. Tom, of course, agreed and, after securing another guest mix for February, Tom was invited to begin a weekly residency on the station that aired exclusively each & every Sunday entitled The Progressive Showcase. With the unfortunate closure of the trancemixers.com stream Tom was invited to take his unique brand of Progressive dance music onto the huge net station digitalvibes.net, where every the show continues each & every Sunday at 6pm (UK Time).
