On the road ahead…Stratus (aka Mike Amann) sees no stopping on his musical endeavors. The journey began in the spring of 2001 when Stratus decided to sell his Korg Triton keyboard, at the time, to investigate the art of DJing. He then shortly after purchased his Technic’ sl1200 m3d’ and a Pioneer DJM Mixer. As for musical selection he began with his favorite electronic music sound at the time, progressive trance. The basics of beat matching was quickly accomplished and over the next year, Stratus slowly found himself turning towards the sounds of more tribally, darker, deeper progressive house music.
It wasn’t until his first event in October 2002, opening up for Baby Anne at Club Mix in Asheville, NC, that he was faced with playing for a large crowd which seemed to be so natural. After his first gig, doors began opening up everywhere. He would become one of the current resident DJs at Club Mix on Thursday nights and begin playing across the Southeast. Stratus also learned very quickly within a few months of how to mix and incorporate progressive/nu skool UK breaks throughout his sets, to make a more diverse musical journey. Along with DJing out on a regular basis, Stratus also runs Miracle One Productions. These events take place in the Asheville and Charlotte, NC area every month. Stratus has begun to embark on learning the fundamentals of music production as well and is excited on what lies ahead in that area. So whether DJing, promoting, or producing, Stratus will have his hands in it all and is definitely a name to be watched.
