Colin Strachan was born in Edinburgh and grew up in the north of England. He developed an insatiable passion for electronic music in his childhood after picking up a second-hand copy of Robert Miles™ Dreamland at a village market.
Colin began making music for amateur video games at the age of 13, and his first track Surrounding You became one of 2001’s most downloaded tracks on the online music community TraxInSpace. Getting his first vintage Roland and Korg synths two years later, Colin developed a hardware-first approach to production that was reflected in a bootleg of Coldplay’s Fix You in 2005. The remix was picked up by DJs across Europe, including BBC Radio 1’s Judge Jules and Gatecrasher resident Scott Bond.
At this point Colin had just moved to Birmingham, where he joined the city’s 12TEN DJ Society – a thriving community of young, creative performers. The society hosted successful events at the renowned Rainbow club and the legendary Custard Factory, supporting DJs like Pete Tong, Richard Dinsdale and Martijn Ten Velden over a period of three years.
In 2014, Colin moved to Montreal, Quebec, looking to reignite his creative potential. The city’s open-minded and multicultural landscape led him to collaborate with artists from Venezuela to Lebanon, and his DJ performances won him the opportunity to do a guest broadcast for Frisky Radio in June 2017.
Colin’s affection for progressive house inspired him to relocate to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2018. Here, he’s been able to share his distinctive fusion of melancholic harmonies and twisted grooves with the world’s most dedicated progressive scene.
