As a huge lover of music, the very first time Sphinx saw a DJ perform he knew this is what he wanted to do. A year later saw his first mix cd “Layers” which encompasses the style of trance that started his DJ career. This landed him gigs in St. Louis and Nashville and also a spot on the 4-score Productions roster.
After hearing certain breaks in song such as Jam & Spoon “Stella” and Darude “Feel The Beat” he immediately started buying breaks tracks, but was still heavily influenced by trance. This began mutliple parties spinning alongside DJ Deceit and eventually led to their residency at Main Street Lounge in their hometown of Louisville.
His next mix CD “Bass Attack” features the tracks that they played during that ara keeping true to the title with hard hitting dirty baselines. From there you could see Sphinx spinning across the Midwest from clubs like Katatonic, Main Street Lounge, Atmosphere, Petrus, and Excess/Orbit to name a few. This also landed him his own radio show on electronicmusictv the edm version of drumnbasstv.
From here Sphinx decided to release “Basemelody” which he considers to be a smoother, more melodic side of his breaks, but still keeping the bass as dirty and rolling as possible. After this release he moved to Florida where you can now hear him on Breaks FM (breaks) which was voted the #1 Radio Station and this years Breakspoll awards at Fabric in London. Look for Sphinx at The Underground or Amphitheater in Tampa, back in his hometown of Louisville, or on Breaks FM!
