2002 has certainly seen Uruguayan DJ Carlos Regueira make his mark on the global scene. He has new productions signed to Prime distribution UK and Distraekt records UK, recorded as ‘Southmen’.
This year Carlos has been Guest DJ at ‘Home’ club in ‘Punta del Este’ (Uruguay-South America most important summer resort) where he plays with the likes of Felix Da Housecat, Hernan Cattaneo, Simone Gigante (IT), Renato Cohen and Marcelo Castelli.
Also in 2002 he was guest DJ at The ‘Globe’ club in Montevideo (Uruguay) and resident DJ at ‘Home’ club in Punta del Este.
Not content with staying in his home country of Uruguay, he has travelled far and wide to play in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Spain, and of course the UK where he appeared on the ‘Whoop! Show’ by Joel Xavier and Andy Lekker for Whoop! Records (UK) at Purple Radio London, broadcast to 6 million people in England and Europe by the Sky digital satellite channel 912.
In 2003 he went to Europe and spend long time living in Manchester UK where he has been played in some venues such as the legendary âDry Barâ? in Manchester, â The Music Boxâ?, and âLiving Roomâ? where he was guest dj at Man.Utd players and also guest Dj at âThe Archesâ? in Glasgow(Scotland)
Also this year he has travelled to play at Vinyl club in Aveiro (Portugal).
In 2004 he was one of the resident djs at TWILO south American tour in Punta del Este.
Carlos set out on his DJ career in ’94 at the age of 16 years old, then playing private parties, but quickly made his mark and took his first residency in 1996 at CafÃ¨ del Mar in Punta del Este.
In ‘96 and ’97 he was making his sound known guesting at such clubs as the legendary south american club ’Space’ in Punta del Este (named best south american club from 1998 to 2000 by Muzik magazine) where he played alongside Alvaro Quartino one of the South American legendary DJs.
Moving into the latter half of the nineties Carlos held residencies at ‘Gitana’ (Montevideo-Punta del Este), and ‘La Morocha club’ (Punta del Este).
Which brings us back to the present where Carlos is now making his moves into production, and what great first steps they are, receiving attention from the likes of Satoshi and Hector at ‘SAW’, Martin Villeneuve(ENVY – MV) of ‘Yoshitoshi’ and ‘Addictive’ and Anthony of ‘dotdotdot Records’. Great reactions all round to these tracks, with Danny Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, P&Z, Chus and Ceballos and Saeed Younan all playing them out. Also the past year his track âIMANâ? has been added to the âCoolcuts Chart (NÂº7)â? at Plastic Fantastic (London) and NÂº17 at Balance Promote USA.
At this time his forthcoming release âFUNKY FEELINGâ? has been including in âAzuli Space Ibiza 2003â? mixed by Smokin Jo and Reche and released by Azuli records (UK), this track will be out soon.
During these years has been djing side by side with Dj’s like: Joel Xavier & Andy Lekker(Whoop!-UK) Carlos Diaz(Zenit-Ibiza), Malte(Germany), Chris Sterio(SOG-UK), Simon James(Renaissance-UK), Hernan Cattaneo, SteveLee(UK), Adnan(California-US), Renato Lopes(Brasil), Mau Mau(Brasil), John Jonson(UK),Carlos Alfonsin(Argentina), Simone Gigante(Italy), Francesco Farfa(Italy), Tony Verdi(Spain) and Marcelo Castelli(Uruguay) to name a few.
And just to round things off, as if Carlos can’t put a foot wrong, he has now joined the ranks of the elite in MUZIK magazine’s(UK) chart roster alongside djs such as: Steve Lawler, Satoshi Tomiie, Carl Cox, Low End Specialists, Cevin Fisher and Superchumbo to name a few.
