Over the past 4 years Simon Bell has firmly established himself as one of Sydney’s most technically proficient and promising progressive Djs. Simonâs own blend of tough, upfront, tribal progressive with touches of techno and pro-tech is graced with self production, special re-edits and remixes prepared especially in the studio creating a unique individual experience each time he plays. Simon has solidly built a reputation as a distinguished Dj and can be heard at many of Sydneyâs clubs and events and also interstate. These appearances include Home Nightclub, Lot 33, Transmission, Godskitchen, GAS Nightclub, Altitude/Halcyon, and numerous residencies at Liberty, Reason, Junction and Night Works events, alongside the best local and international acts that exist including his inspirationâs Danny Howells and most recently Steve Porter and PQM from New York.
Simon’s experience combined with and love of dance music and the progressive scene saw him travel to the Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in March 03, brining his skills to the decks for legendary promoters Spundae. Spundae Presents SIN @ the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Casino is one of the most popular events in the city reaching a total capacity crowd of over 2000 + people each week. With previous line-ups including Danny Howells, Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Christopher Lawrence and The Scumfrog, Spundae has showcased some of the best Dj’s in the world and has now added to that record with Simon Bell. In the opulent surrounds of one of the biggest and best clubs Las Vegas has to offer Simon headlined, playing a driving, hypnotic blend of progressive, progressive breaks, tough tribal and tech soundscapes layered with smooth vocal accapellas and sampler wizardry. This set was featured and streamed on In the Mix ITM-FM, Nova 96.9 FM, and FBI 94.5FM generating a colossal interest in his sound.
Furthermore Simon is actively involved in the dance music scene in Sydney and has contributed to such websites as 12am.com.au with monthly installs of his âNight Worksâ? column, delving into the depths of all things dance and adding fresh ideas to Sydney music. Additionally he has worked on radio presenting a dance music show on the Radio FBI 94.5 FM featuring Australian Djs, Producers and their mixes while also pushing forward new sounds and bettering Sydneyâs airwaves. Keeping himself thoroughly busy he also runs a collective agency promoting dance music events and DJs. Finally Simon is dedicated to improving the awareness and popularity of the dance music throughout the city and on the international front as well, pushing new and exciting sounds and working on various projects including future production releases all with the same goal in mind.
