Aliina Mayes and Dean Pratt aka Silent Code have been making their presence felt on drum and bass events over the world as Djs for the last ten years, but came together in August 2010 to work in the studio, after sharing a coincidental number of favourite tunes and ideas.
They immediately found there efforts were making some energetic magic on the dancefloor. There first release “Tonight” Feat G’d Up was signed on Flourish Records and there second tune “Engaged” featuring on the Viper Recordings Worldwide 001 which is a double CD and available on digital download with an epic 36 track 70 minute mix from Matrix & Futurebound on CD1, with 15 exclusive unmixed tracks on CD2. This is featured alongside artists such as Matrix and Futurebound, Nero, Tantrum Desire and many more. The track has been released on the Viper Recordings Summer Slammers 2011 Sampler which you can purchase on the Viper Recordings website.
On top of that they had over 900 downloads within a week of putting up there 2 bootleg tunes, “Bang Bang Bang” and “I Need Your Loving” on Souncloud, also had tunes already featured on 1Xtra, Radio Cardiff, Inspiration FM and Kemett FM.
They have also just signed a record deal with Physmatics Recordings, through Prime Direct Distribution who have signed artists such as Cause4Concern and Urban Assault (Shortee & Faust) . If you liked Dutty Gal, they will be releasing thier Dutty Gal VIP for 2012.
From travelling to Germany, Prague and Slovakia together to gigs or writing beats in Las Vegas these two have labels already asking for remix projects, and so Silent Code continue working together to boost there profile within the D&B circles and beyond.
Seperately Dapz has been into music from an early age. At 13 he took up DJ-ing and by 16 progressed onto writing his own music. He went to Leicester College in 2000 to complete a course in Electronic Music & Recording and by 2004 Dapz then took a National Diploma in BTEC Level 3 Music Technology.
In 2005 he began working with MC $pyda & MC Blu Bomma, opening him up to a range of new ideas, opportunities and a chance to further develop his skills in the Studio.
This step into the music industry also led him to meet and collaborate with more estabished artists, recording vocals for the likes of Benny Page (The Burial), DJ Clipz (Pass it Around) & Futurebound & Matrix (Knightrider). Following on from this 2006 saw Dapz going to work for the Youth Organisation called SEND www.sendproject.com by completing a 7302 City & Guilds Course in Teacher Training, Dapz then stared teaching young adults how to DJ, Mix & produce music.
2007 was another sucessful year as Dj’ing took him over seas to Germany where he played at a number of Drum & Bass events. MC $pyda introduced SLiPZ to DaPZ whom he then began collaborating with in 2008. Writing not only Drum & Bass tracks, but also Grime & 4×4 Bassline. Within that year SLiPZ N DaPZ was signed to Passenger Records and had there 1st vinyl release with “A, The Pressure” “B, Get down” Also doing remixes for Aquasky on Digital releases. 2009 Dapz has had a number of digital releases and intrest from Drum & Bass labels: Abstract V.I.P, Junction 11, Dread Nought, G13, SubSonic Audio and more.
Seperately Aliina has made a name for herself as Missrepresent as one of the few Djs to break through without production credits. Without many people knowing, she has had many of her own tunes pulled up in a dance, you can view these videos on her website, and record labels such as Outta London Records offering her tunes to be signed. From getting a National Diploma in Music Technology under her belt to having run her own record label and helping others set them up, Aliina has a successful 10 year Dj career being sponsored by major companies and clothing labels. She has been playing sets on line ups next to artists such as Pendulum, Nero, Goldie and supporting Djs outside of DNB circles, and after 10 years of Dj-ing Aliina is working alongside people she has respected for years.
Now boasting a worldwide fanbase and having played accross the world her tours have taken her to countries like America, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Korea, La Palma, Poland, Portugal, Prague, Tenerife, Scotland, Spain, Slovakia, Taiwan and Wales as well as bookings for some of the most established promoters in the UK.
