South African born Samantha Blackburn has, in recent years established herself as one of Londons best female talents to emerge onto the scene. She is currently a hot name amongst her London counterparts

After several years behind the decks Blackburn is reflective of her assorted likings of tribal, percussive and the softer sounds of electronic music, her sets are soulfully balanced with melodies, rolling beats and melodic chimes reminiscent of her South African roots. She is not timid in her experimental performances, fusing together percussion and brazen beats, with a slightly two-step influence, with somewhat soulful melodies and atmospheric chimes, cultivating her rolling tribal tech style, and with such flair for new sounds it was not a surprise she was labelled as ”one to watch” international clubbing magazine Mixmag.

Samantha’s expressive style behind the decks is reflective of her assorted likings of anything deep or tribal tech, always driving, her sets are soulfully balanced with melodies, rolling beats and melodic chimes reminiscent of her South African roots. Samantha knows how to please a crowd and her track selection is always nothing but excellent. This is her edge – she is something different – out of the box.

Recently has securing gigs at some of the capital’s coolest parties, one being her monthly residency with Get Diverted where she has she has had the opportunity to warm up for the likes of Josh Winks, Mr C, Robert Babicz, Slam, Catz and Dogz, Nicole Moudebar, Markus Homm and Geddes, to name a few.

Samantha Blackburns international DJ career has also precipitously expanded as her talent brought her noteworthy gigs in her home town in South Africa, at Time in the Philippines and Area 51 in Boracay Islands, all during 2011.

Last year was nothing less, one appearance worthy of a special mention was a roof raising tech house set for the well-known promotion WYS! at London’s well renowned super club Fabric. After years delivering top class musical entertainment on Deepvibes and pirate stations across the UK. Blackburn was also recently found presenting a great debut performance on Ibiza Global.

A recent milestone in her musical career was the step taken to emerge as a brand entrepreneur on the musical underground scene earlier this year (2013) as she presented the launch of her own managed promotional brand;

Buntu. Buntu will provide a platform for a wide convergence of musical artists, DJs and visual artists, to come together and create something new and special. Buntu monthly events will explore the roots of house and techno accompanied by live instrument and creative visuals.

2014 will see Blackburn will dedicating time in the studio for upcoming remixes and productions, with the latest venture including collaborations with Yazon Muzas. Samantha Blackburn is a great fresh female talent with many new chapters unfolding in 2014, couldn’t have said it better than Mixmag; Samantha Blackburn is definitely one to watch!
