ROBERT G. ROY (Baroque records,Vendetta records, Oxyd records, Circle music,Stolen moments records, Beatfreak records, )

Investing his name on the global club circuit with the series of releases on premium labels such as Harlequin, Nitelite, Oxyd, Vendetta, Circle, BeatFreak and Baroque, Robert G. Roy, continues to push forward his unique take on notorious Slovenian underground music heritage. This dare-if-you-care approach is best presented on his remix of Sweet Dreams and artist singles such as So Much Better, which crossed over into the mainstream after being treated by Robert’s fellow countryman Valentino Kanzyani. Watch out for Robert’s forthcoming album Joker on Baroque Records.

In the beginning of new millennium Robert decided to learn more about the production. Few years, uncounted sleepless nights, numerous creative bug bites and few gigabytes of disc space later he managed to sign his first release. The Underground was picked up by the established Miami based house label Harlequin Recordings Group supported by deejays such as Danny Tenaglia, Boy George, Dirty Vegas, Danny Howells, Ralphi Rosario and Junior Vasquez. After becoming a big club success in Europe as well as overseas in the summer of 2005 The Underground was licensed for major dance compilations released trough labels such as American Universal Records (Electro Club), Italian Do It Yourself (DJ Selection 25) or French based Feel The Rhythm Records (Happy Music). “Lately I’m more into minimal stuff, although I never limit myself with the particular genre or trend.

After few years of bonding with both dons of the Slovenian electronic scene, Valentino Kanzyani and Umek, Robert finally got the opportunity to release his own EP on label Earresistible Musick in 2006. And he made up for the given trust in the best possible way: namely, after being remixed by Valentino Kanzyani his tune instantly gained the support of some top names in the industry and crossed over into the mainstream. It was promoted by artists, magazines and radio brodcasts such as Eddie Halliwell’s and Fergies show on BBC Radio 1, Flash Brothers’ exclusive guest mix on Global DJ broadcast and one of the World’s most influential electronic music magazine Raveline (reviewed by 5 points). And a little secret for all that don’t know Robert that well yet – the sexy voice singing the vocals on that records is his own. Well, we’ve told you right at the beginning that he comes from the familly of many acknowledged musicians and singers.

In the spring of 2008 the video for So Much Better was finally produced. It was imediatelly picked up by one of the most influential players in the club industry, the Ministry of Sound and listed in it’s on-line TV channel which represents the creme de la creme of electronic music mainstream video production. The video was charted on the #7 position on the prestigious MTV Dance Floor Chart as well.

Along his regular releases on top labels, summer residency at one of Adriatic hottest clubs and gigs all around Europe, Robert always finds time for some further experimenting. Thus he recently joined forces with the Sidechain Records crew, label and event promotion organisation, for some showcases after releasing some of his darker productions on this fast rising label.

At the end of the last year Robert teamed up with top German artists such as Markus Lange, Lexy and Luetzenkirchen who have trusted him with the remixing of their upcomming releases. Robert’s unique DJ-mixes are frequently broadcasted on specialized electronic web radio stations like Proton or Magma and with his big passion for club culture he continues to bring the biggest deejays in Slovenia. As one of the biggest artists from the region he continues releasing for some of the best imprints worldwide such as Baroque, Oxyd and BeatFreak. He recently remixed Carlo Dall’ Anese & Fabio Castro’s Moday For Vendetta along Pete Tong and Tom “Superchumbo” Stephan, as well as Boy George’s new hit single ‘’Yes we can’’ on Oxyd Records. Furthermore, he reworked Mark Knight & Funkagenda’s Good Times for Toolroom. Last but not least, Robert is finally putting together his debut album Joker for the UK based Baroque records. The first single of the same title is out with additional remix of Sergio Fernandez as Pig & Dan had already treated the next one.
