Biography

Julio Chávez a.k.a Road Elf stands as one of the few existing dj/producers in Caracas, Venezuela focused on Trance music and all of his styles, with also a little touch of other styles, depending on the situation, just to add that little spice and ensure everyone listening to have a great time enjoying the vibes of the good music.

Julio started his interest in trance music since long ago, at beggining of the 21st century by listening to some cd mixed compilations by the biggest trance dj’s at the time, attracted by the feeling generated by those sweet melodies and euphoric atmospheres he decided many years later on to start mixing trance music, so on 2008 he quickly learnt to do so, digitally and with cd decks, and got instantly invited to open a trance music party. After so much passionate listening and mixing to this type of music, he instictively started studying every aspect on each track, reproducing, rearranging and changing everything in his mind, then not long after that, original melodies and rhythms constantly came into his mind, by that time he entered a contest and got randomly selected and awarded an online basic Ableton Live lessons, all of this definitely settled his course into music producing.

In 2010 Julio partnered with Aaban Castillo, Javier Chávez (a.k.a Made In Caracas), and John Marimmon to start what now is the biggest electronic music digital record label in Venezuela, Step Forward Music. He plays the role of A&R Manager at its first sub-label, Only Trance Records, an initiative that gathered many new and experienced producers from different corners of the world and pushed them into the international scene through their music, as of today, this label’s releases have been supported by many big trance music artists.

In 2013, Road Elf started The RoadCast, his monthly podcast that features many rare and exclusive tracks from a lot of different producers, strictly focusing on the music quality over anything else.
