Rick Corbo was born in New Jersey in the early seventies to Cuban and Peruvian parents. He grew up in Queens, NY where he was exposed to many forms of music. By age 15, he was intrigued by the skill of blending music. Soon thereafter, he spent endless hours in record shops absorbing the culture. As a hobby, he spun at local parties and skating rinks. He advanced his skills while listening to and gaining inspiration from many of the great DJs; pioneers who laid the foundation of house music and what it is today.
Music became his passion, propelling him to leave his analyst position at Cartier and dedicate himself as a full-time DJ. Since 1999, Corbo has been resident in the main ballroom at Webster Hall, NYC. This pivotal residency enabled Corbo to establish and build a following. Corbo has been graced with the opportunity to bring his sound to other venues throughout the states. At present, he is featured on Z-100 (WHTZ-FM) every Saturday night in conjunction with their Underground Party live from Webster Hall. Previously, his live sets have been featured on 92.7FM, NYC and globally by Sirius Satellite Radio. Corbo has mixed several successful compilation albums for the Webster Hall Records label which have sold over 300,000 copies combined. Currently, he is working on the Webster Hall Dance Volume 6 compilation album for scheduled release in the Summer of 2003. In 2002, he was selected to join the Billboard Reporters Panel, an appointment typically reserved for the most influential DJs in the country.
Further influenced by many elements of the industry, he has taken the next logical step in his career and entered the field of production. Corbo has teamed up with talented artists: Curtis Atchison (Midnight Society); Rob Corbett (Oval Records); John HDZ Hernandez (Nocturnal Minds); John Kano; Bass Rokwell; and DJ Style (Knob Records).
As a producer/remixer, I look forward to making music which embraces my culture and experiences to inspire individuals to ascertain their own dreams.
