Biography

Ricard Vernet was born in Barcelona, where he lives at present. As a teenager in the 80`s he gets very much involved with the music of that time. He started performing as a DJ in 1994, mixing sounds as indie-pop and rock with the incoming electronics of Manchester, one of his biggest influences.

It didn’t take him a lot of time to make himself a place in the local scene, his sets at clubs such as ‘Electric’, ‘Zoo’, or ‘KGB’ have always been very innovative. Coinciding with the interruption of breakbeat in the electronic scene, he started his first residence at the Global parties of ‘La Boite’ where he would put together different sounds such as breaks, electro, funk and rock. In summer of 1998, he became DJ Resident of ‘L`atlantida’ in Sitges. From that time till 2001 he conducted with DJ Iu the sessions in two well-known afterhours in Barcelona too. His flirting with house beats in the gay ambient took his ‘superfreak sets’ at ‘Satanassa’ to became a myth of that time.

His good taste took him to play to many clubs all over the world such as ‘Ambit’ (Andorra), ‘Painkiller’ (Milano), ‘Dinamix’ (Bari), ‘Rafgier’ (Berlin), ‘Nocturn’ (New York), ‘Big One’ and ‘Superclub’ (Buenos Aires), ‘Cronos’ (Ushuahia), and ‘Soho’ and ‘Ant’ (Punta del Este), between others.

In his home city, of course he has played at the most important clubs such as ‘Otto Zutz’ or ‘La Terraza’.

Today he is DJ resident at ‘Zen Club’, together with Paco Osuna and DJ Iu. There he has shared sets with the most important DJ s of the international scene, such as Marco Carola, Metro Area, MIA, gaetano Parisio, DK7, etc. He is also playing once a month at ‘Club Fellini’.

He is about to release a 12’ toghether with Paco Osuna, Iu and D. Squillace with the label Minisketch recordings and he is also preparing together with Iu a remix of ‘Mechanical’ from Cycle.
