Biography

Andrea Calella, a.k.a. Queemose, began his artistic career in 1998. From an early age he began to absorb many different musical styles thanks to the repertory of his DJ father. Discovering pathways influenced by early productions from the likes of Kraftwerk, Stockhausen, Luigi Russolo, Jean Michelle Jarre, Klaus Schulze, Brian Eno, John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Garbo, Curtis Mayfield, Tom Waits, Moby, Le Orme, Jimi Hendrix and moving onto mixing old discs such as Kano, Universal Robot Band, War and mAny Other names from the funk period of the early 80’s.

He went onto collecting vinyls and mixes from the renowned Strictly Rhythm and Nervous Records, who he had based his groove on from the beginning. In 1999, he began to produce tracks of a decidedly darker and more techno nature, being attracted by the production of masters such as Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Robert Hood, Derrick May. From 2000, he began buying old analog synths and drum machines and produced several electronic and house tracks.

At the SAE Institute in Milan he studied the various techniques used to improve production and mastering and finally found the style he was looking for by experimenting with different types of hardware, including E-MU Proteus 2000 and E-MU esi32 which also uses at home for its productions

He has, over the years performed in many locations and festivals that include;

Ergo sum Galatina, Silver System Ostuni , Black City Milan, Aphrodite Club Corfu (Greece), Zaar Mykonos (Greece), Hyper Maxi Disco Alberobello, StreamFest, VDP Music Festival, Hard Rock Cafe Rome for World – B, Heroes Festival London, Disma Music Show Rimini, Sottoscala Milan, Premio Terre Del Negroamaro, Notte Verde Maglie, Guendalina (Lecce), Abstact Oslo, Day Off festival, Istanbul Cafè, ShapeFestival, La Focara Novoli (Lecce), Pooglia Beat Making, I Want To Be Festival, Palaghiaccio Project (Lecce), Contesta Rock Air Rome Extra World – B with Alex Infascelli, and many more… Has supported and shared the stage with many artists including Aphex Twin, Pendulum, Arnaud Le Texier, Masomenos, Serpenti, John B, Dj Jad (Articolo 31), Carvin Jones, Robertinho De Paula, [ON]iride Performance, One Minute Suite, Ivan Iacobucci, Oby Baby, Papachango, Nico Tripaldi (Omdatik), Gionata Mirai (Teatro degli Orrori), Crookers, Grandmaster Flash…

He wrote and produced the soundtrack and music for “Sophia Nel Paese Della Meraviglia” the first park of philosophical Italy, in the center of Corigliano D’ Otranto (LE), has produced the soundtracks for the film "Rosso Nel Rosso by Frank Pellegrino and music for many spot and short film, has also collaborated with contemporary art projects with Mina D’ Elia, Mario Schiavone, Vito Mazzotta, and the composer Alessandro Girasoli.

He has produced for Shivlink records, Subtec records, The Flame Recordings, Click Muziq, Deep Diamond, No Sence Of Place records, Jack Kitty (with a remix for the Canadian duo “Le Prolifique”), Deep Diamond, DFC, Mantra Vibes (with a official remix of “Margherita” a great success by Pino Massara, Italo Disco 1979) and has collaborated on several projects and live studio registrations with the likes of Musique That We Love, M.I.M.O., Enzo Fina, Daniele De Rossi (Aka M.O.R.P.H. / Science Force), Cristian Carpentieri, the great clarinetist Stefano Quaranta and singer-songwriter Giuliano Ingrosso.

He believes in ‘immense potential of music, of all kinds, from any part of the’ universe. The music will save us.
