âPaul is one of the most consistent and freshest djs around!â Nic Fanciulli
âOnly every now a then a DJ a talented and fresh as Paul comes along, I have a feeling I will be seeing him a lot more of him and his music this year!â Fergie
âA wicked producer, fantastic DJ and a top guy to boot. There is no question Paul is headed for the top.â Rui Da SilvaGodskitchen resident, Toolroom records producer and stalwart member of the nu breed of house music DJs, at only 26 Paul Thomas is someone who is causing something of a major stir in the dance music fraternity. With props from some of the most highly respected producers and DJs around (Pete Tong, Sasha, Steve Lawler, Mark Knight and Fergie), his own clubbing brand (Dex in the City) and a raft of upcoming releases planned for 2006 Paul is undoubtedly one of those artists who makes you sit up and take notice.
Paul has been DJing since 1998 and earned his stripes at some of the early Sundissential parties and Stereo, where he was noticed by Bedrocks Steve Gerrard. However, it was not until 2003 that he had a massive breakthrough, being signed as Godskitchenâs resident to open their own flagship venue Air. Since then, with the backing of the Godskitchen crew, his profile has risen enormously. A mammoth 6hr set NYE earned him a legion of fans and an official residency with the UKâs biggest club.
During 2004, Paul played for Godskitchen more than any other dj, spinning alongside Groove Armada, Fergie, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Layo & Bushwacka!, Adam Freeland, Jon Carter, Xpress2 and many more. During the summer of 2004, Paul brought his Dex In The City brand to Godskitchen, hosting the 2nd room on a monthly basis. The 2nd Dex In The City party at the club saw Paul play a 3hr back to back set with Nic Fanciulli. To top off 2004, Paul played alongside Erick Morillo at Godskitchenâs New Years Eve ball.
2005 was a very busy year indeed for this young man. As well as playing many massive dates at Godskitchen & Dex In The City in the UK, Paul played twice at this yearâs Global Gathering, including playing the last set in the Babooshka arena to a crowd of over 4000 clubbers. Paul has also taken on numerous gigs around the world; taken on as Godskitchenâs official world tour dj in the Spring he played dates in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden, Romania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Paulâs Dex In The City night has also begun bi-monthly residencies in Poland and Bristol.
This year has seen Paul add to his international experience with a set at Shanghaiâs exlcusive Bon Bon club, regarded as their best night yet. He is also seeing his Godskitchen Residency go from strength to strength playing alongside Erick Morillo, Deep Dish, King Unique, Lee Cabrera, Richard Dinsdale, Gabriel & Dresden, Audiofly,
Richard Dinsdale, Fergie, Tom Neville and Seamus Haji. This summer he has been booked to play at the HIFI festival and also Godskitchen Global Gathering where he will be sharing a stage with Sasha, Pete Tong, Groove Armada and Mark Knight. In addition his Godskitchen International Tour kicks off in the summer where he will be representing the Gods sound worldwide.
His studio work is also flying along, with remixes and original tracks commissioned and released on Toolroom, Red and Pandemic Records. In fact, Paulâs mix of âFunkagenda âUndergroundâ on Red was so popular it accounted for 56% of all downloads of the track on its own! Recently Paul was also honored to have Sasha feature his mix of âJose Gonzalez âCrossesâ in his live set from Space at this yearâs WMC. Also, his new release, Chemical Reaction, was featured as Fergieâs âUnsigned Record of the Weekâ and is soon to be released on massively respected âWhoop!â records.
All in all it promises to be a very successful year for this talented and deserving young man.
