Patto is far from a new name when it comes to the Melbourne hip hop scene. Making his big break back in 2002 when legend Bias B handed his demo tape to Jase (Beathedz/Nuffsaid/Obese) and resulting in a consolidation of musical cohesion, the pair begun working solidly in the studio, putting together an archive of dusty sample based tracks from an era when the local scene was beginning to flourish.
In 2006 Patto featured along side hip hop heavyweights on the compilation Jase Connection (Obese Records) with the track ‘Controversy’, which received positive press reviews and officially bound him to the industry.
Over one hundred live shows later, his first manufacturEd Solo release This Ain’t A Mixtape drops and Patto records tracks with an array of artists including Drapht, Illy, Pegz, Reason and DJ Bonez. The hugely successful banger ‘Radio Active’ (feat. Pegz and Produced by Jase), receives national media attention as it’s placed on Triple J’s high rotation and nominated for Triple J’s Hottest 100 (2008).
After time focused on individual ventures, and years spent refining the final album track list, Patto and Jase hit the studio once more for the long awaited Lp Speaking Terms featuring Funkoars, Briggs, Maundz, Cappo (UK), with entire production handled by Jase Beathedz.
As a lead up to the official album release early next year, Patto will be dropping never before heard tracks from the studio cutting room floor each week via soundcloud and facebook.
