“Really fresh! I really like it. It fits totally in the European / Berlin sound right now!” DJ Hell (International Deejay Gigolo Recordings)

“His ‘12-step remix’ of Ask Yourself draws on the complex 2-step drum patterns of UK garage and takes them on a step or ten further, creating a unique groove that suits perfectly the more experimental reaches of Plastikman’s output whilst maintaining a deft melodic touch.” (www.m-nus.com)

Having his music signed to such diverse labels as techno mainstay M_nus Records, Canadian down-tempo imprint Interchill, and French progressive label BUS (amongst others), it’s clear to see that Melbourne-based producer Oblique Industries is not one to be restricted by the boundaries of genre. Drawing influence from techno, house, minimal, electro, progressive and experimental sounds, Oblique Industries has crafted a sound as much to tantalize the mind as the body, exploring the contrasts between light and dark, loud and soft, minimal and maximal… whilst delving deep into the spaces in between.

Aside from his own productions, Oblique Industries is quickly becoming a sought after remix artist after being hand-selected by Richie Hawtin as the winner of the Plastikman ‘Ask Yourself’ Remix Competition out of over 1300 entries from around the world, earning him a place on Plastikman’s ‘Arkives’ on seminal techno label M_nus Records. Oblique Industries’ music is also available through Interchill Records, BUS records, and Finland’s Planetaria Recordings and Australia’s own Subsonic Music, with more tracks slated for release soon on Chameleon Recordings, Smash Bang and Open Records.

2011 saw Ryan spread his wings as a touring artist, bringing his live show to the international stage with his first ever tour of Europe and Asia with performances throughout France, Germany, Poland, UK, China and Japan. The recently completed 2012 European Summer tour has created more buzz in the international scene and planning for a 2013 return is already underway. With an Australian summer schedule including the epic Eclipse 2012 festival as well as some of Australia’s Premier festivals and events, it’s obvious that Oblique Industries has no plans of slowing down anytime soon!
