After 17 years in the business, thousands have been hard hit by the drums and vibe of DJ Nyan Narine. It all began with guest appearances on Toronto’s favorite, pioneering house music radio shows. Nyan then began producing his own deep house & garage show called Inspiration 1992-1995 where he met friends and mentors, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia and Little Louie Vega. By 1996, Nyan started working under the banner of his own company, DeepDown Productions. Nyan’s sound began transforming and was increasingly dominated by darker tribal grooves. He maintains his roots as a garage DJ, blending soulful, vocal house in with sexy, big-room bass lines and relentless tribal drums.

Nyan branched out to the scene in London, Ontario as a resident DJ at London’s most successful house night at the Sapphire Lounge and made appearances at John Acquaviva’s club, Lush. After successfully taking on London, Nyan began working the dance floors of Montreal. Highly influenced by a world-standard after-hours scene, Nyan found Montreal crowds to be the most receptive and enthusiastic for his unique sound. Nyan moved to Montreal in 2002, and has since claimed his place in the Montreal club circuit, playing venues such as Stereo Bar, Gravity Afterhours, Mile End and Illume.

In 2004, Nyan produced original music along with special remixes used by Cirque du Soleil in their production for the 2004 Black & Blue festival in Montreal. His bootleg remix of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, ‘Imagination’ turned 2005 Halloween crowds into a frenzy at Crobar NYC, where it was touted to be ‘one of the highlight tracks of the night’ by none other than Roger Sanchez himself. Along with studio partner Pierre-Andre Meunier, he has released a new remix of Tom Novy€™s ‘Your Body’, which has already electrified Montreal dancefloors and is being played by Roger & Chus. Upcoming releases from the DeepDown studios include two original tracks as well as remixes of Roger Sanchez’s Turn on the Music & Copyright’s latest stomper ‘He Is’.

He has created a new partnership with Stereo Nightclub owner Scott Lancaster as the monthly resident for Scott’s new International DJ night known as ‘Dirty Thursdays’. Nyan’s featured parties have come to be known as ‘DeepDown N Dirty’ !

Nyan is staying true radio roots via his DJ sets, which are broadcast on the Internet radio stations in Toronto and started broadcasting his new radio show DeepDown N Dirty Radio on in Montreal.

For Narine, a good night is made when the energy in the room is ripe with emotions. “I am definitely an emotional DJ my music is even more than a story I am trying to tell, or a journey upon which I’m taking the crowd… its a tangible expression of my state of mind… we all truly feel that connection… and this connection is felt deep down insides”
