Early in her life, Angelica Perez felt attracted by music, singing and dancing. As a teen,
she joins numerous groups and performs in several artistic events at her school. She participates in “Voz Liceista” while at the same time attending modeling school at “Rita’s” Booking Model Agency.
She then broadens her professional career by studying Fashion Design in Caracas, doing modeling jobs for a nationwide distributed magazine and performing in the video “Cuchi Cuchi” by internationally acclaimed band “Los Amigos Invisibles”. A few years later she stars in an exercise and dance television show on Meridiano Television.
Angelica was not into Electronic music culture until 2004, when she becomes a devoted follower and develops a keen interest in mixing. With only four mixing classes, given by her friend DJ Ennio Vizconti, and with the support of DJ Irak, she further explores and learns, until her debut as DJ Ngelik at the “Belle Epoque”, followed by several performances in noted night clubs.
2006 is marked by her first international show in Panama and sign-up with Germany-based music agency “Evolution Music”. That same year she joins rock band “Parkas” as singer and lead voice. She debuts as vocalist during Mozarfest at the “Aula Magna” of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. However, due to her commitments as a DJ, she decides to leave the band.
From her debut up to this date she has positioned herself, not only as DJ Ngelik but also by her performance duet name “Manga Dolls” alongside another Venezuelan DJ, as an icon for Electronic music in Venezuela and one of its most important international representatives.
She has been selected as N.1 female DJ for the Minimal-Electro category in 2007’s “Top DJs Venezuela”, second best female DJ in the Top 100 category, first female DJ in Caracas and N.1 DJ for the Tech-House edition of 2008. She was interviewed twice by, and poses for, Maxim Magazine; her second photo shoot for the magazine, accompanied by other female DJs from around the world, is distributed to other magazines such as FHM Croatia, FHM Portugal, FHM Rumania, Maxim Czech Republic, Maxim Greece and Maxim Latinamerica; her artist image as a DJ is used in a Sketchers commercial spot and also in the musical video for the track “Ok la” of her colleague DJ and producer, Patafunk. She has shared the stage, and DJ Booth, with notorious international artists and producers.
Recently influenced by Underground music, this artist knows how to bring together diverse music styles to oversee the dance floor, please the audience and leave an enduring mark of a performance that cannot be forgotten.
Her evolution and development as an artist have made her part of the roster of agencies such as SGM Entertainment, Escade DJs, and, recently, as Manga Dolls for Interlabel, a well known record label and international booking agency owned by successful producer and DJ Jerry Ropero.
Musical creation and composition is the newest and biggest interest for this artist.
Because of this, she has dedicated the last two years to master music production and mixing software, as well as song writing. Attracted by pop music, rock and hip-hop, it’s no surprise that many of her future proyects come from the influence of their music themes and favorite artists; icons like Garbage, Madonna, Eminem and even the more bizarre ones like Marilyn Manson. It’s difficult to place this artist in a single music genre, for her continual evolution make her a malleable metal capable of melting into different genres she feels attracted to. “Music is the interpretation of everything brought together and made a singularity”, says Ngelik.
Her technique mesmerizes those that get close to the stage. Her charisma, vitality and awareness while mixing, fills the audience with the innermost need to dance. Her main interest, however, lies in being herself during her performances; this is the reason why her music comes from her own musical selection based on themes she personally likes, and is not influenced by any DJ or producer.
Her career continues to expand in countries such as Germany, Vietnam, China, Poland, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia as well as several latin american and central american countries, in parallel to her monthly residency in a recognized club in Venezuela.
