Filipino born and a Miami native, Rachel Tumada a.k.a. ‘Ms. Mada’, is an upcoming DJ, & an aspiring producer that is rapidly making herself known throughout the underground movement in Miami, FL and abroad. With more than 3 years of experience on the decks, her sound has developed quite rapidly from it’s early stages of tech house to the now heavy, bass ridden deep house and deep techno that flourishes in each set she plays. If you catch her set you’ll instantly recognize her blend of classic Chicago house grooves resonating within the boundaries of disco and jazz whilst hinting of a subtle & twisted deep techno influence emulating the Detroit sound.
Ending her month-long hiatus at the closing of 2010, 2011 proved to be a really big year for Rachel, becoming the main resident of the music group, [FILTER], and giving her the opportunity to open and share the decks for many artists such as Anthea, Arado, Channel X, Christian Burkhardt, Daniel Steinberg, Giuseppe Cennamo, Lauhaus, Leon, Marco Faraone, Onno, Pablo Cahn-Speyer, Super Flu, & Yaya at The Electric Pickle co, where the group was based.
After parting ways with [FILTER], she was quickly recruited by LINK, one of Miami’s leaders in the underground electronic music scene, as the newest and only female resident in their home base, Treehouse. Since joining the LINK team in Sept 2011, she has opened for acts such as Butane, Cozzy D, D’Julz, Dan Curtin, Danny Daze, Delete (of Fur Coat), DJ Tennis, Dory, Inxec, James What, Jonny Cruz, Luca Bacchetti, Magda, Marc Houle, Margaret Dygas, Martin Buttrich, Martinez, Mathias Kaden, My Favorite Robot, Philipp Jung of M.A.N.D.Y., & Richy Ahmed… not to mention also getting the exclusive opportunity to open and close for Art Department and Shaun Reeves at Mansion late March 2012.
With the great opportunities she was given the last 2 years, her appearances at venues throughout Florida and abroad have made her a force to be reckoned with. From completing gigs at venues (previous residencies) such as Treehouse, The Electric Pickle co., Mansion, Club Space, and La Covacha (The Cove) in Miami to venues internationally abroad, such as Rain Nightclub, Confession Nightclub in Aruba, and La Concha in Puerto Rico… it seems that there is no end in sight for her continuous move towards success.
Even though she is currently concentrating on her bachelors at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, she still takes time out to play at venues locally and abroad whilst producing her own material to develop her own unique sound. And with a résumé that is rapidly expanding, who knows what’s in store for this up and coming talent within the near future… stay tuned, folks…
