Biography

Mos-Ko was first introduced to the Dance scene in the late eighties where he was exposed to a variety of sounds including Acid House, Chicago/Detroit House, Experimental and Ambient soundscapes – compliments of Coldcut, Future Sounds of London and not forgetting the pioneering radio shows of Colin Dale and Colin Favor on Kiss FM London.

It was at Nottingham University in 1992 that Mos-Ko first laid his hands on a pair of decks. His DJing started by playing at local house parties to organising club nights and eventually landing himself a residency at a well known student club night! This progressed to regular club events in and around Nottingham until he returned to London.

Here he has been Djing on a regular basis for an up and coming British Asian radio station since Jan 2000 where he co-hosts a Progressive House show. Mos-ko also plays at Friktion in London – an Asian fusion event with London’s Asian Underground DJ’s. He DJ’d to a packed crowd of 2000 people in Brussels at the 2003 Bollywood and Bhangra Beats UK National Party alongside UK’s Radio one DJ’s.

More recently he has been getting the dance floor going at parties in collaboration with Shiva Sound system at the Bluu Bar in Hoxton, London. A weekly event of Asian electro funk beats and sound scapes. This has led him to play at the discrete but extremely popular Shiva Sound system warehouse parties. He has found himself behind the decks many times at these parties keeping the dance floor pounding to progressive beats alongside DJs Bobby Friction (Radio one) and DJ Nerm (Shiva SS).

Mos-Ko’s DJing sounds are adapted to where he plays, mixing Deep and Progressive House, Rhythmic Trance, Breakbeats, Indian vibes and Chillout flavours. This has come to the forefront during 2005, where he played with Transglobal Underground at the famous Marquee club in association with Shaanti, the longest running Asian club night in the UK.

He also shared the stage with the Asian Dub Foundation (ADF) at the popular Shaanti monthly in Birmingham UK. Mos-Ko has landed himself a monthly residency since 2006 where he plays Breaks and Progressive House at one of London’s best underground clubs, Herbal in Shoreditch. There he’s been trying out different sounds alongside main residents and Breakbeat legends the Drumattic twins before exporting his sounds to Switzerland, Austria or France. Watch this space…
