Biography

With all of the DJs in the scene nowadays, you’d think that every possible angle would have already been taken.

Think Again.

Moebius brings to the table, a new fire, a new passion to use music in order to move the masses. Whether it is a thumping hard house and progressive set, an intricate trance set or a groovy house set, Moebius is always looking for new and interesting ways to speak to the crowd.

Moebius’s musical skills were not initially forged in the fires of thumping base and arpeggiated stabs. They were first developed at the fundamental level of concert music at age 10. Musical development was steady along this path until 1992 where the introduction of PCs with sound cards and fast trackers made their appearance.

A new era of digital loops and samples was about to begin.

College and a new crowd of people led to the introduction of raves and accessibility to a new instrument…The Technic Turntables. A local college radio DJ, noting Moebius’s interest in writing electronica on the PC, first introduced him to raves and vinyl. A new appreciation for electronic music became apparent after feeling the energy and vibe at these underground parties. Weekends flew by as Moebius traveled with the exodus of “Ravers” to destinations around the US. After seeing acts by many well established DJs, Moebius knew that he wanted to control the crowd, to tell his story, to become a DJ.

Deciding to take music production to the next level, Moebius purchased MIDI hardware in 1997 and began experimenting with this new medium. Deciding that some time would be needed before live sets could be played out, turntables, a mixer, and crates of vinyl were purchased to be used at his expense.

It was at this time when practicing had gone into full effect and he moved out of the “bedroom” to start playing at various parties. It would be 3 more years of practicing and smaller events before Moebius had his breakthrough in 2002 at a Chicago club to play a 2.5 hour set to a crowd of approx. 800 attendees.

Since this event, Moebius continues to mix demo CDs and network with DJs and producers established in the club scene.

Events are becoming more frequent as his presence continues to grow.

Patience and persistence leads him where he wants to go as he strives at creating interesting and energetic sets, continues expanding his musical library and continues learning new tricks and techniques.
