Refusing to be pushed off the decks by the boys, Miss Match has risen fast through the ranks of a male-dominated industry to become one of Sydneys hottest and most entertaining DJs.

She’s become renowned for her boundary-pushing “miss-match” sets, combining the popular genres Jackin House, Vocal House, Electro House, Tech House and Fidget in one set to make her incredibly accessible in any club.

Falling in love with house music years before she even picked up the headphones, it didn’t take long for the country girl to make the transition from fan to feature player, with residencies at Sydney hot-spots Shipwrecked, Gorgeous, Astral Bar, the ‘Hi-Flyers’ cruises, The Bank Hotel and even for television’s “The Footy Show” throughout 2009.

Miss Match is often playing interstate and after just three years of being on the circuit, an overseas trip in 2007 saw her gracing the decks in Tropicana, Paradise Club and Paradise Lounge Bar, leading to summer residencies the following year. The icing on her international career was an invitation to play at London’s Ministry Of Sound in 2008, which was followed by gigs in Malaysia, Singapore, and South Africa, and a headlining gig for the “Feel Negumbo Festival” in Sri Lanka in 2010.

“Growing up in the country didn’t give me the greatest opportunity to hear a lot of different styles of music, so you could consider me a late bloomer. Am more than happy to admit I am THE biggest Michael Jackson fan. R.I.P. I studied every album, dance move, outfit, lyrics, notes and music composition for years and years. Learning from the biggest entertainer in the world has taught me to aim for the top and to work hard to become one of the best in my field…”

Not content to stay behind the decks, Miss Match also dabbles in event management and music production. During Australia’s summer she runs ‘The Penguin’, an intimate VIP yacht cruise on Sydney Harbour that has seen her play alongside legendary DJs such as Andy Ward (Soul Central), Jeremy Healy (UK), Mistress Barbara, Groove Asassins (UK), The Potbelleez and Sean Doyle (Soul Heaven).

She started producing in 2008 and her first track, Tarantism has been cranking in clubs ever since, with Miss Georgia Brown (Australia) on vocals and scratch ensembles by the talented hip-hop group Blis’n’Eso. In 2009 her Progressive Tech House track Ophelia and three remixes by Boogie State, Craig Obey and Rave Radio and Ben Kelly were all released on iTunes, Beatport, and Juno Download (UK). Her foray into music production has been received with open arms the world over, with some major labels catching Miss Match fever.

“This is Beautiful…Loving it…CF NYC!!!!” – Cevin Fisher, Pacha NYC

“This I can spin! Our DJ’s will want this one!!” – Masspool DJ Association, USA

“Original will get many plays on my tours…good work!” – Scott Langley, Ministry of Sound World Tour Resident (UK)

Something that also must be mentioned is her inspiration – the man who really opened her eyes to music, to whom she owes her direction, strength & passion to, and getting down & dirty on the decks – DJ Mitch James.

“Mitch was my partner of 5 years who passed away with cancer in 2001. I am carrying on his legacy and passion, and hope that by following my dreams I am able to bring the music we fell in love with, to the rest of the world… Music has carried me through some of the best and worst times in my life…. the best times are now spent behind the decks…”

Some other close friends and colleagues in the industry whom Miss Match has the utmost respect for, are Jonny and Dave from The Potbelleez who continually produce No.1 hits such as ‘Don’t Hold Back’, ‘Are You With Me’, ‘Trouble’, ‘Hello’ & most recently ‘Shake it’.

“Miss Match is without a doubt our favourite female DJ…Amanda is ‘incredible’ live. Her energy, skills, passion and natural presence and beauty behind the decks make her a very rare breed…She is the fastest rising female DJ star in Australia, but is a superstar already in our eyes, and it won’t take long before everyone knows about Miss Match…We adore her.”

Miss Match’s plans for 2011 are to continue production in the direction of the other genres of house she loves to play. She will of course continue to travel & rock venues & clubs, as well as run her Penguin cruises in Sydney, as well as launching the brand new intimate Tech House cruise du5k in June 2011.

“…a girl who knows her shit behind the decks and isn’t afraid to push the limits of playing the rarest, mind-blowing tracks, never exhausting energy and techniques creating the smoothest of sets every single time….and no matter what time of the day or night – you’ll always find her dancing…” – 2007, 3D World

“Amanda played for our weekly night The Gallery at The Ministry Of Sound, London. Her infectious presence behind the decks was quickly noted and the room packed out. Look no further for a DJ that actually performs.” – 2009, Damian Gelle, London (Lock N Load Events responsible for: South West Four / Get Loaded In The Park / The Gallery-MOS)

“Miss Match doing great things here on her 2nd release “Ophelia”! Clubland watch out! Full support! " – 2009, Levi 5 Star, DJ/Producer/Director, Quality Control Entertainment
