DJ Miss Lisa is quickly becoming one of the headlining DJ talents on the North American club circuit and is knocking on the door to dance music stardom. Miss Lisa is acknowledged for her sleek style and her superior mixes which have begun to craft into an easily recognizable look and sound. Miss Lisa got her start playing hip hop, and her first gig was playing disco and old school at the renowned Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California. She eventually started playing electronic music which is where her passion lies. She currently lives in San Diego, California, but is rarely at home due to her ever expanding tour schedule. Events and promoters Miss Lisa has played for include the infamous Club Rubber Pimp ‘n Ho, Ultraworld’s Starscape in Baltimore, 420 in Seattle, Together as One in Los Angeles, Naked LA, the Winter Music Conference in Miami, and New Year’s Eve in Singapore just to name a few. She is currently headlining the famed Hot Import NIghts Tour with a themed mix compilation to follow on Moonshine Music later this year. Voted San Diego’s house DJ of the year 2001, Miss Lisa has become a staple on the west coast club circuit. Her first production, “Crawling,” was an illicit remix to the hard hitting Linkin Park smash, and her second track, “Blister in the Sun,” was recently picked up by Exodus Recordings and was released on an 80’s compilation album entitled, “Back 2 the Future” on Topaz Records. Her newest track, “Get up Get down” will be released later this summer. With other new productions being tested via dubplates at gigs, fans can expect more of the hard hitting beats and energy she is known to bring. Inspired by producers like Kumara, Anne Savage, Rachel Auburn, Justin Bourne, the Warp Brothers, and James Lawson, Miss Lisa’s mixing captures the peak hour vibe of the electronica underground. She strives to take the energy level through the roof with her outstanding programming and stage presence. Miss Lisa continues to hold her residency at San Diego’s trend setting venue, Glo @ On Broadway. While she is a local favorite, her goal as a DJ is to start playing more internationally and to continue working on studio projects. Presently, her full length mix compilation, “For Your Ears Only,” is available exclusively at Ladancemusic.com and was made strictly for her fans. “Magnetism,” another full length mix is available on Topaz Records and is available everywhere fine music is sold. Also, her seminal “Causing a Commotion,” released on UC/SHR in 2002 is currently out of print and has become a hot commodity on eBay auctions. Miss Lisa’s love affair with fashion and getting dressed up is part of her DJ persona, treating each gig like a performance. There may be a few skeptics thinking the novelty of being a female DJ is the reason for her bookings, but anyone educated at all in the realities of the music and club industry knows you can only get so far by showing skin. Miss Lisa has proved time and again that she can rock a crowd and has created an incredible buzz. Tim Ortiz of Eventvibe promotions states, “Miss Lisa brings amazing energy to my club and this is exactly what I want; great music and stunning beauty!” During the week, Miss Lisa saves lives, not on a dance floor, but in an ER as a registered nurse.
