Electro/ House / Breakbeat DJ with a deep passion for a bass line, here’s a girl who is not scared to mix it up with all kinds of funky sh*t !! Minxy is also establishing herself as a fledgling record producer. Her newest production – ‘Power’ remix came out on DJ Debbie D’s American record label in October.
At the last eight editions of Glastonbury festival, Da’ Minx cemented her party credentials, with prime time sets at the legendary Mutoid Waste Company’s “The Unfair Ground”, voted the best field of Glastonbury 2012 by the Telegraph, as well as Glade, The Common and other stages. Playing sets after Rudimental, Elite Force and Mr Carl Cox himself!
Throughout the summer of 2016 she had continued to drop her signature of phat bass at festivals all around the UK and throughout Europe, such as the Secret Garden Party, Beats for Love, Boomtown Fair, Blissfileds as well headlining one of the stages at Portuguese Freekuency festival. In 2014 she popped her Burning Man cherry and even brought the spirit back, playing at the Burn’s London Decompression Party. Unlike her role model – Minnie the Minx – Minxy is highly animated behind the decks, and plays tunes that refuse to let you sit still.
Originally from the Czech Republic with Russian blood, Mini Da Minx honed her craft DJ-ing in Cape Town. Early signs of a latent talent however were evident when she set up a school radio station – playing the likes of The Prodigy and at the tender age of 15 she became an active member of the Czech Pirate station “RADIO FREEDOM”.After a move to Cape Town in 2002 she was pushing Breaks and Underground tunes onto the South African music scene where she worked with African Dope Records hosting numerous events, including Chix in da’ Mix.
Making an impact with her versatility and original style she began playing prime time sets alongside such industry heavyweights as Freq Nasty, Dj Vadim and Pascal at some of South Africa’s biggest festivals – Oppi Koppi, The Cape Town and OBS Festivals. Still involved in radio, but now running her own show, Breaking Point, but this time world wide on Mutha FM. At this time a busy dj-ing schedule included tours of Europe, playing Paris, Edinburgh, Germany and Czech and this led to a move to the British Capital.Since her move to London almost 10 years ago Mini Da’ Minx has became a regular player on the UK scene. 2008 saw her begin something of a residency at the Mutoid Waste Company’s events, playing at their Mutate Britain exhibitions and including peak-time sets at every Glastonbury Unfair Ground and its previous incarnation Trash City. If you look really hard you can even see her riding on the back of a mechanical Mutoid dinosaur in the Paralympics Closing Ceremony 2012!! In June 2016 she held a full dancefloor for 3.5 hours Mutoid event PUNX: 40th anniversary of punk rock and rave culture at a London square. In her prolific portfolio you can find gigs such as prestigious International Breakbeat Awards, the legendary TCR BBQ, carnivalesque London night Rumpus, Portuguese Freekuency Festival, radio shows at Rough Tempo Radio, opening and closing seasons in Chamonix and at Krafty Kuts’ popular night in London.
The last 9 years have also witnessed a succession of unforgettable all-day events marking Camden’s Lockside Lounge Summer BBQ season. “Sunset Showdown”, “The Last Party of the Summer” etc – have all been CHIX In da’ MIX presentations (continuing the female Artist and Dj collaborative events she initiated in Cape Town 2003) featuring such talented individuals as Flore, Janette Slack and Toni Jarvis.
Mini Da’ Minx continues her forays into production working alongside producers such as Vlad (TCR) and Wreckage (Wall of Sound). Watch this spaces for two new releases coming out soon.
