Biography

“It’s not easy to describe my sound. This is because I play a large spectrum of the house genre, as long as it fits into one set.

I do have a big focus on drums and percussion throughout my sets and productions. So if I had to try to put it into a genre, it’s groovy Latin flavoured house with lots of vibe!”

Marvin Coronel is a Mexican House Music & Techno DJ/Producer currently based in Chicago, United States.

Marvin spend his younger years soaking up the musical influences that were the lifeblood of his home country; cumbia, salsa, bachata, merengue and reggae…. The diverse genres solidified Marvin’s dedication to music and he continues to immerse himself in new music to this day. This wide variety of music exposure is Marvin’s creative influence.

In 1999, he is given his first residence at La Boom in Cancun, setting the start of his career as a DJ. He plays in several events in this city, sharing stage with Doc Martin, Green Velvet, Tommie Sunshine, to name a few, all of them very big names of the 90’s to become first class icons of the movement known as underground.

In 2004, he is given the resident title in the place of reference in the underground movement on the Riviera Maya, Mexico: Coco Maya, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Thanks to that and his increasing number of public appearances in events all over the Yucatán peninsula and participates in massive Internationals events.

By 2005, the Dj art and with his own ongoing inertia, reveal to Marvin a new necessity: that of fabricating his own sounds and experimenting with different rhythms looking to give birth to his first production.

Up to today, he’s authored over 400 tracks (remixes and originals), and many collaborations alongside great artists. The sound that distinguishes Marvin, evolves essentially around his 90’s roots, when he used to play tribal, as it does progressive and a bit darker and stronger techno. That gradually moved him into Tech House, mixing tribal sounds with percussions and funny drop beats, thus obtaining a great acceptance by the Latin American listeners, as well as Europeans or even Japanese audiences, carrying him into Dj’s top charts lists.

In 2011, he begins his year at the opening party in Coco Maya, Playa del Carmen for The BPM Festival© one of the best music festivals in latin america.

During the last decade, he participates in massive events, and his name appears alongside artists such as Sander Kleinenberg, Hernán Cattaneo, Paul Oakenfold, Chris Fortier, David Morales, Junior Jack, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Guti, Deenasty, Mr. Mike, Dario D’ Attis, Victor Simonelli, Tony Humpries, Joeski, Harry Romero, Kenny Dope, Louie Vega, Paul Johnson, Green Velvet, Danny Tenaglia, Sean Miller, Danny Howells, Dubfire, Andrew Grant, Luca Baccheti, Dirty South, Richie Hawtin, Carlo Lio, Steve Lawer, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Patrick Topping, Lee Foss, Seth Troxler, Richie Ahmed, Mickey, Hot Since 82, Copyright, Eats Everything, The Junkees, Saeed Younan, Luciano, Sven Vath, Mirko Loco, Ricardo Villalobos, Argy, David Squillace,Nicole Moudaber, Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Nick Fanciulli, Deep Dish (Sharam & Dubfire), Sander Kleinenberg, Hernán Cattaneo, Paul Oakenfold, Sander Van Doorn, Tiesto, Chris Fortier, Audiojack, Stefano Noferini,Carl Cox, Victor Calderone, Steve Angello, Felix Da House Cat, Gabriel & Dresden, Anthony Pappa, Paul Van Dyk, Bob Sinclar, Stan Kolev, Mr C, Pirupa, Adam K, Miss Kittin, Laidback Luke, Chloe Harris, Sharam, Audiojack, Chus and Cevallos, Doc Martin, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, DJ Meme, Basment Jaxx, the most important among many others.

With many projects still in his mind, his growing work in his studio is opening the doors to great Labels and music Producers. In a similar way, his fan number on social media and the demands he gets for massive events is growing steadily.

In 2016 staying true to his latin roots, Marvin has built a global following thanks to a keen devotion to his music, an unfaltering DJ passion and a healthy dose of idiosyncratic productions with work taking up a bulk of his time, Marvin never takes a break from the day to day grind.

Marvin shows no signs of slowing down. He is still achieves the residence at Coco Maya Beach Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico and keep ruling the club scene with his unique sound and incredible turntable skills, any still creating heater after heater in the studio, and still coming up with new ways to make the job of being a DJ easier and easier for DJ’s everywhere. Marvin is without no doubt the man of job.

We look forward to hearing more sounds created by Marvin, as we are sure they are bound to be awesome.
