Martyn’s style is structured from his varied collection of records. He only plays the records that he truly loves and will not be compromised by trends or genre.

Martyn most likes to listen to music whilst eating slice after slice of tasty toast. Toast has been one of Martyn’s passions since the early 90’s providing the perfect snack, be it breakfast, dinner or all the meals in between. He has curly ginger locks to die for.

His music may be of any genre, but the seal of ginger approval must first be sought. Tracks like Metro Area “Miura” and the work of Moodymann, Theo Parrish and Drexciya have all tickled his pickle. Certain disc jockeys have also been celebrated and cheered by Martyn: Knifehandchop, John Aquaviva and Jeff Mills (Sonar 2004) managed to tick all his boxes.

Martyn received his musical education in the famous Northern quarter of Manchester. His butty-making earnings were abused in Piccadilly Records, Pelican Neck Records and most notably, the hallowed crates of Vinyl Exchange.

He often speaks of his love for vinyl culture and the frantic finding and swapping between the strong network of Rossendale chums. eBay has also taken it’s toll on Martyn’s bank balance with last minute snatches providing the thrills.

Other thrills for Martyn included winning IDJ’s best reader mix in February 2003, spinning at Bay Bar in Ibiza and warming up for Andy C and the Freestylers at the Smirnoff Experience in Leeds.

Hearing his voice over the radio was more of a scare than a thrill when his (Northern) voice was likened to that of Pete Tong!!

Martyn has high expectations of the year ahead where he wishes to work on perfecting his radio skills and double his weekly DJing work. He is also working on a business pack for Sonar 2005 where he hopes to promote CHOICE to the worldwide electronic music community.
