Biography

Since the year 2000 German Dj/Producer Malente has released two artist albums on Unique Records and is gonna give you a third in April of this year. Apart from his club hits “We Came to Party”, “I Sell Marihuana” or “Funk the Rich” on Unique it was mainly his 12’es on Moonbootique Records, which let his popularity rise in 2004. After Moston & Malente “In the Sky”, which could be seen as a video on MTV and VIVA-TV in Germany, he released the track “Washington” in October, right in time for the US election. Both tunes where big in the DCC, the German Club Charts.

The Malente-Sound is somewhere between ElectroFunk, ElectroHouse & party-rockin’ beats. Funky Breakbeat groovers meet pumping Electro-House stompers, all this on the basis of that positive Malente-Vibe. No doubt it’s easier and better to listen to that than to put it into words.

How captivating his unique style is you can see from the long list of remixes he did: among others there’s Der Plan, DJ Friction, The Strike Boys, Thomilla, Bob Sinclar, Frank Popp Ensemble, Le Hammond Inferno. Another indicator are his many DJ gigs not only in Germany, but worldwide. In 2004 alone, he traveled the USA, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Greece etc.

In 2005 there’s gonna be a hell of a lot of Malente-Releases for the turntables of the world: To begin with, in late February there’ll be the new Moston & Malente “Crowdrock / Tight With You” on Moonbootique. At the same time “Dancefloor Whore / What You Got?” will be released as a 12 on Unique and April starts off with the Album “Rip it Up” on Unique. This album contains not only exclusive remixes of Malente’s “greatest hits” by Dublex Inc., Dj Friction, Thugfucker, the Strike Boys, Dr. Rubberfunk and others of well-known Malente tracks but also a hand full of brand new tunes.
