The story so far….
Pompey picked up the DJ bug at the age of 12 in the unlikely surroundings of a small village in Yorkshire called Gargrave. After 3 years of blasting out tunes in his bedroom he gained his first residency, at the mere age of 15 at the trendy Y-bar in near-by Skipton, where he began to showcase his talent and perfect his now distinctive mixing talent. Now at the young age of 20, Pompey is on a mission to take over the world and is currently at the forefront of the Yorkshire club scene, and 2005 has seen this rise to prominence in the exciting and vibrant House clubs of Leeds.
After coming second in the 2005 4clubbers-Kissdafunk DJ Comp things have really started to go from strength to strength for him, at the final of the competition @ Mission in Leeds he was last up and played his 20 minute, funk-fueled set to a packed out audience, they liked it so much many cries of “we want one more” were being shouted, but rules applied and Pompey had to leave the hallowed decks only to be replaced by Kissdafunk head honchos Rob Tissera. After seeing this obvious talent Pompey was asked back by Mission promoters to play a 4-hour set for Houseworks, in which he tore the roof off!
In December 2005 Pompey entered the Mix-Factor DJ competition @ Bar Fibre in Leeds but was held off the top spot by the amazing talent of up & coming female DJ Bryony, never the less Pompey was credited as an outstanding new talent and hot prospect for the future and was later offered a residency at Fibre, who also co-promote the massive Leeds & Manchester night Protocol and what’s been labeled “Manumissions little sister”, Federation. He has more recently gone on to work with the ultimate clubbing website 4clubbers and played for them on New Years Eve at Parlez-Vous and New Years Day at Gatecrasher club Discotheque in Leeds, where 4clubbers hosted the downstairs room at the sell-out Crasher Classics event. After being spotted he was offered more gigs and can now be heard playing at Gatecrasher in Leeds on the last Saturday of every month, along side some of the worlds most prolific guest DJ’s such as Tom Novy, Axwell & Ingrosso (Swedish House Mafia), Matt Hardwick and many more superstars in the future.
Pompey can also be heard making regular appearances at Leeds’ very own, and very famous, Speedqueen, which to many is seen as one of the most glammest, craziest club nights on the planet. You can also catch him playing for new Leeds night Lifted @ Rehab and Pukka-up, who are set to take over the House scene in 2006, and if everything goes to plan you’ll catch him playing for Pukka-up at their weekly residence in Ibiza at Es-Paradise.
Pompey was recently featured in the December issue of âInternational DJ’ magazine in the raw talent section where his demo CD was credited by the likes of superstar DJ’s Yousef, Jon âBir, Nic Fanciulli, Anne Savage, and Eddie Halliwell.
Pompey is a new breed of hard working, energetic DJ who’s been hailed as one to watch for the future, his infectious style of pumping, hands-in-the-air funky house will have any dancefloor crying out for more. With the use of accapellas and tools, he makes his set completely his own and this allows his love for the music to shine through. It’s clear from the reaction he gets, wherever he plays, that Pompey is going to be around for a long time.
