Classically trained on the piano beginning at age 5, Laura Brehm has been immersed in music her entire life. She started playing guitar and creating music at only 13, and she soon discovered that writing uplifting songs came as naturally to her as breathing. Now 24, Laura has two pop/indie demo albums under her belt, ‘Day to Day’ and ‘Dreams’. Both albums feature the beginnings of Laura’s sound in her poetic lyrics, intuitive vocals, and the fusion of piano and acoustic guitar. Playing many acoustic shows in her hometown of Louisville, Colorado, and across much of Northern Colorado encouraged Laura to continue her music career in the city. Moving to Denver in 2008 allowed her to dive into the urban music scene. In the summer of 2010 she found herself opening for Heart at the Paramount Theater—one of her prime achievements as a solo artist so far.
In 2012, Laura emerged on the EDM scene, working on vocals for an array of electronic songs. She has now worked with various producers from across the US as well as Canada, Brazil, and Europe. Her airy vocals lend a dream-like sensation to the upbeat EDM style, causing her talent to be heavily-sought after by producers. She has written and recorded in numerous sub-genres including: house, dub-step, experimental, orchestral, and electronica. A collaboration with Ecotek gave Laura the opportunity to write a song about a legendary spot close to home, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. The song, “Mile High” was performed on the main stage in the summer of 2013. A multi-dimensional artist, Laura is eager to continue collaborating with fresh and innovate musicians, nurturing the evolution of her sound.
Laura has a gift for drawing beauty from everyday life. Inspired by the picturesque aesthetics in nature such as roses, birds in flight, and the complexities of space, the themes of love, hope, self reflection, and the metaphysical journey are communicated through each of her songs. Laura’s lyrics are both refreshing and relatable, along with a voice that soothes the mind and ignites the spirit. Audiences are left with a sense of inspiration and renewal. The style and emotions within her music are reminiscent of her biggest influences: The Beatles, Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, and Imogen Heap.
Having experience in both the acoustic and electronic realms of music, Laura is bringing her focus back to her solo work, as she continues to collaborate with international producers. Her new music features an folk/electronic sound, bringing the best pieces of her eclectic background to the forefront. The lively voice, and heart-tugging lyrics that won over Laura’s rapidly-growing fan base are better than ever, eloquently woven through fresh new sounds.
