DJ Kling had what most would call an accidental introduction into the world of the Disk Jockey. Having a job as a lighting operator in a Boston nightclub at age 16, he began learning the art of the DJ while bored during the early evening sound checks. Purely by chance, a last-minute sick call put DJ Kling behind the turntables for 4 long hours at his first live performance, spinning drummy techno to a full room of 400 clubbers back in 1994.
Moving to Reno, Nevada in 1996 should have been the end of a short 2-year DJ job, but accidentally running into a local Mobile DJ brought DJ Kling back into the DJ business while in college. He quickly moved up the DJ ladder to be the most highly booked mobile DJ in Reno.
Being bored with the top40/hiphop scene, DJ Kling began purchasing vinyl in many house genres (specifically UK Hard House), and teamed up with the upstart Annihilation Productions, who threw their first rave with DJ Kling in 2001. DJ Kling helped Annihilation Productions throw Reno’s largest raves, frequently topping 1400 guests.
DJ Kling went on to win Reno’s Battle of the DJ’s in 2001 and acquired a job at Metropolis Nightclub as lead resident spinning UK Hard House, Funky/Disco House, and Deep House at Reno’s ONLY house venue.
DJ Kling also performed at nearly every Reno Rave through 2002-2005, topping some 80 events in all, plus performances at Metropolis with over 50 of the world’s top DJs and producers.
DJ Kling took a lot of pride bringing new music to Reno, including his own move from a UK Hard House DJ to a more versatile DJ providing music from NuNrG, UK Hard House, Hard Disco House, Funky House, Techhouse, SF House, Deep House, and even some Straight and Drum Track Techno. In a most surprising change, he performed a set of 80’s Remixes at his graduation party, adding to his reputation for playing a different format flawlessly at every party.
DJ Kling also was co-owner of Andy & Friends, a local Rave company which revived Reno’s Rave community from a struggling clique to a large group of dance music lovers.
DJ Kling most recently graduated Medical School and is a Resident Physician in Emergency Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He travels to Reno and Boston frequently to continue his love of DJing, and hopes to acquire some semi-regular booking in the NYC area.
