Biography

Genre: Techno

Kimpa grew up in Sweden outside of Gothenburg and has been spinning the decks since 2005 now at an age of 26.

Already at a very early stage, while growing up in a family of musicians, she showed an interest in singing and playing instruments. Although she didn’t come across her passion for music until she moved to London in 2003.

Arriving in one of the worlds most exciting and amazing club-and nightlife cities it was only a matter of time until she was forever lost in the parties!

It didn’t take very long until she discovered an other side of the party scene, the squat parties, that were happening every weekend provided by the biggest soundsystems in London.

The fact that you can get so close up to the Djs when they play and to experience the fat underground sound blasting out from these massive speaker walls just blows you away. It was love at first sight!

After a year of partying seeing all these great Djs playing weekend after weekend she decided to go for it herself.

As much as she loved being in front of the Dj booth dancing to the beat it was time to get behind the decks. What could be better than to be able to make others dance to “HER” beat?

It was about time to start visiting the record stores in London collecting brand new tunes as old good classic ones.

She started to go around to friends houses practicing and learning tricks and at the same time being provided their knowledge about Djing.

Six months later there was a ready set up soundsystem in her place and from there it took off…

The first gig took place on 7 October 2005 in a techno [email protected] Dukes in Houndsditch, London hosted by Malfaiteurs,

Since then she has been playing in various club events and parties around London such as in Telegraph, The Jamm, Dance Industry Recording Studios, Duke’s and for one of the biggest soundsystems in London, Malfaiteurs.

Her hopes and dreams are that she will be able to make it out there in the world as a Dj and some day be able to make her own music.

Her style is techno from minimal and funky beats often melodic with a twist of electro to deep and hardening tunes.

She has had the privilege to play with some of the finest techno Djs in London such as Chris Liberator, Jeff Amadeus, D.A.V.E the Drummer, Jerome Hill, Clodagh, Jackie Misfit, Animatek, Olivier FX, Ludgero, Rodrigo Ruiz and Briza.

Her influences as a Dj comes from many different directions such as from top producers and Djs like Valentino Kanzyani, Umek, Marco Bailey, Marco Nastic, Clodagh and Olivier FX.

Her record collection contains the finest techno music provided by her favourite labels like Recycled Loops, Intec, Zync grooves and Mb Elektronics.
