Morad Kalice aka DJ Kalice is Jordan’s first proper underground house DJ, with a career spanning 12 years and counting. Its no surprise that he grew up learning the classics of jazz, funk, disco and new wave, with his first textbooks being the records and tapes that he found in his familys library.Starting off with school parties and private events when he was just 14 years old, Kalice quickly scored a string of residencies at the most popular clubs in Jordan throughout the 1990s, followed by a short stint in Casablanca, Morocco during the summer of 2001. By then, Kalice had decided to focus entirely on underground music. Life is short, he says, and there is so much music out there that it would be a waste to stay stuck in the past. He has made a name for himself playing a wicked blend of tech and electro house, with a dash of progressive house and a minimal streak. Kalice’s years of hard work have earned him a respected name in the scene playing proper dance music for the masses. He is an in-demand DJ at most of Jordan’s underground parties, whether warming up, headlining, or closing at the countrys biggest events, including Distant Heat in Wadi Rum, one of the most important dance events in the Middle East. In 2004, he started a residency at Prana, which has gained worldwide attention as Jordans proper underground nightspot. Putting the region in his sights, Kalice has played to packed houses in Beirut and Jerusalem. Leaving his crowds breathless, sweaty and often screaming with his sets, Kalice has appeared alongside Nick Warren, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Anthony Pappa, Behrouz, Armin Van Buuren, Fred Numf, Hisham Samawi, DJ Dansz, Ceasar K and many other top notch DJs in the region. After a few years of remixing tracks that have caught his attention, hes getting ready to put out his own productions as well. Look out for something big from this promising Jordanian talent.
