Biography

Location: Los Angeles, United States United States
Genre: Hip-Hop, House

After teachers brought to her attention that she was crap at math and great at talking too much, DJ K-Sly combined her musical talent with her social skills to become one of the most vital DJs in the music culture.

She has been credited as the first internationally renowned Asian female DJ. While that may sound like a rather big call, her work has solidified her rank and leadership as a bona fide DJ and host.

At K-Sly’s live shows, expect to hear an aggressive union of funk, house, rock and old school, combined with plenty of bass. Her assortment of genres always bring forth nasty dance floor business from double fists hammering the air, wall-to-wall twerking to good ole two-stepping.

She has been entrusted even by actors, such as Oscar award winner, Forest Whitaker to deejay for their most important occasions. She has introduced some of the biggest stars on stage, from Beyonce, Nelly, to Outkast and many more.

K-Sly is a Savior of Sound (www.solrepublic.com). She is also a proud member of the Violator Allstar DJs. She’s the New Year’s Eve resident DJ for 20,000+ party goers at Siloso Beach Resort in Singapore.

On TV, during Smirnoff’s "Master of the Mix” Season 2, she survived six of seven rounds, as the only female standing! The first nationally televised DJ show was judged by legendary DJ Kid Capri, Vikter Duplaix, Amber Rose, and music producer, Just Blaze.

Being in the spotlight has given K-Sly the opportunity to interview some of the most influential entertainers of yesterday and today. The list includes Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, 50 Cent, Common, Chris Brown, Quincy Jones, Damian Marley, Shaggy, the late Rick James, and actors, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett, Tommy Lee Jones, Mike Meyers, Peter Facinelli, to name a few.

If you ask people like Lil Jon or Ludacris what it was like working with K-Sly, they won’t hesitate to tell you, “She’s CRAZY. I love that girl!” While at Hot 107.9 FM Atlanta, she co-hosted daily with her buddy, actor/rapper, Ludacris (Christopher Bridges). Post-Atlanta, she was heard on Las Vegas radio station, Hot 97.5. Then, she continued back to her roots in Los Angeles, working at 100.3 The Beat FM (Radio One).

Additionally, she hosted on MNET America’s BPM, covering artist interviews, concerts and special events. She was the co-host and DJ for internationally syndicated show, “Dance 360.” Following that, she became the announcer and DJ for Steve Harvey’s Big Time, while holding her position on The Beat.

She is consistently seen on various television programs, such as MTV and BET, and cameo appearances in music videos. She was a guest on Style Network’s Split Ends and featured on a documentary for Oprah’s Oxygen Channel. Also, she has been featured as a guest with E!’s Ryan Seacrest.

Oprah’s best friend, Gayle King presented her with a prestigious national Gracie Allen Award for Women in TV & Radio. She has consistently been spotlighted in print and web publications, such as Entertainment Weekly, XXL, Complex, AllHipHop, Ballerstatus and Audrey Magazine.

K-Sly is a positive influence in the music industry and a very respected person, as well. K-Sly has garnered a legion of fans who keep her humble and encouraged.

Born in Seoul, Korea is the eldest of four children. She is a Los Angeles native with an Army child upbringing, which brought her to attend Kansas State University where she graduated with a B.A. in Sociology.

She’s hot on the wheels and even hot in heels; DJ K-Sly goes off live!
