Justin Nichols began his music career over a decade ago with a diversified background in the music industry. Throughout his career, Nichols a.k.a Mojolators has dominated dance floors as a DJ as well as become a leader in the music production world. He has also worked behind the scenes in the record industry in talent recruitment while developing his own music and production name Mojolators.
Nichols a.k.a Mojolators, first made his mark as a music producer in 2000 with his 12" debut, “Drifting’/To The Music”, released by Chicago’s esteemed Moody Recordings. The record was a huge success around the world being licensed for DJs such as Pete Tong to leading compilations including Clubber’s Guide to Ibiza and Cream Anthems. “Drifting” was re-released in 2001, this time including a vocal mix that resulted in it becoming one of the biggest dance records of 2001.
In Spring 2001, the UK’s label, Defected, signed Mojolators for a three EP deal as part of its underground-focused sister imprint Fluential. Along with signing this deal, Mojolators remixed a variety of artists including Knee Deep’s “I’ll Be There For You,” Eric S’s “Dance with Me,” Rubber Souls’ “Can You Relate?” and numerous other projects.
In addition to his production work, Nichols simultaneously established his DJ career while also working in the record industry. He served as the A&R Director for Astralwerks records for three years and Smile for two years, where he sought out new talent and project managed various groups and artists. In his off hours, Nichols traveled around the world to perform at clubs and raves of all kinds, under the AM Only booking agency. His talent has reached the dance floors of a multitude of cities across the U.S. and worldwide. He is best known for his ability to blend anything from house to techno and classic tracks, while building the energy of the crowd.
Nichols’ newest career venture, Club Recordings, was launched this year collaboratively with producer Jason “Jinx” Zambito out of their Brooklyn studio. The label will deliver everything from instrumental to vocal house influenced by the sounds of jazz, funk and soul beats. The label is already gaining recognition from top DJs and radio stations worldwide.
