Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA (1968) June was exposed to dance music at a early age by his parents who played Latin music at home. He was exposed to all genres of music at such a young age, and developed a passion for salsa and meringue. He moved to the clave rhythms of Tito Puente, Eddie Palimeri, Celia Cruz, and various other Latin artists. His parents had a wide variety of Latin music at home from all over Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. They would throw these house parties were June would watch people dance and groove off the percussive rhythms. This is where his passion for dance music became an interest. His frequent visits to his god parents home in upstate New York, exposed him yet to another genre of music such as, Jazz, R&B, Disco, and Funk.
June develop his turntable skills on his mothers stereo utilizing wax paper on the plat form to keep his records from getting scratch. This provided him a outlet to develop his craft as a DJ. However, not being able to afford a professional set of turntables, and soon figure out how to beat match on an old pair of technics his cousin gave him. At age 15, he made tapes that contained both Latin and Hip Hop music and sold them to local kids in the block. He was part of the Latin break dance scene as one of the top break dancers. He provided hip-hop and break beat grooves for the break dancing competitions at the play ground. Those late Saturday nights in the barrio paid off, and earn him the respect from both Black & the Latino community. He became one of the top wanted DJ’s in the Latin community to play at local dance functions.
Growing up in the barrio (neighborhood) inspired him to love all types of music. At age 18, June appeared at local clubs as a guest DJ in and out of Philadelphia’s surrounding parties. Mixing and providing a multitude of grooves from all over the world. He also provided his musical input to local elite fashion shows in Philadelphia, New York, and New Jersey area. His early twenties was devoted to the Latin community promoting both music and culture. He reestablished himself as one of top local Latin Jazz promoter in Philadelphia and in the Delaware area. His passion for Latin Music earned him a spot to write for a local bilingual magazine. He traveled to various cities to report Latin Jazz acts to the Latin community. Today he continues to collect various grooves on vinyl, and continues to support other DJs in the scene.
June is currently collaborating with local artist, and Deejays to bring a multitude of sound to the city and aboard. June continues to produce dance music utilizing past musical experiences and his heavy Latin music influences. This form of musical taste has allowed him to incorporate different rhythmic live patterns, and a mixture of styles of music.
